White Oak Vineyards
The family behind White Oak Vineyards left their native Germany with an eye toward purchasing farmland, but they never considered grapes until they discovered the climate of their new home. They owned three modest acres in the beginning, which they packed with a variety of vines. Today, their expanded 12-acre property houses Seyval Blanc, Frontenac, and St. Croix grapes, along with eight other species. Some have even become wines that earned the vineyard awards from tasting competitions.
They family invites visitors into their home to try the wines they've perfected over the years. The Bernese Red Frontenac—a bold red with notes of cherry and pepper—goes well with a sunset enjoyed from the tasting room's wrap around porch or a picnic held beside the property's picturesque pond. Better still, every chair provides a view the vineyard and the surrounding countryside.
