The overall experience was great. The guides were spectacular. The view and location was amazing. The weather was not great, which meant little kayaking, but better whale sightings. I am even thinking about going again.

Wildcoast Adventures - Discovery Island Trip

Included in National Geographic Canada’s 50 Places of a Lifetime, the Discovery Islands are a kayaker’s paradise and considered to be one of the West Coast’s best-kept secrets. Launching from breathtaking Rebecca Spit Provincial Park located in Quadra Island’s Heriot Bay, kayakers venture into the group of sparsely inhabited islands to explore the myriad of channels, bays, coves, points, and passages. Enjoy setting up camp at a different location each day and lighting campfires under the starry skies each night. The Islands host abundant wildlife and are home to sea lions, seals, Pacific white-sided dolphins, otters, colorful birds and some of the largest starfish and clams in the world. Playful seals and seal pups often approach sea kayaks. Even transient Orcas and Humpback Whales have at times been spotted during this trip. Each trip is customized to suit the group’s paddling ability and interests.

Wildcoast Adventures - Orca Camp

Located near the Robson Bight Ecological Reserve, the basecamp of Wildcoast Adventures is one of the best places in British Columbia to encounter the wild majesty of killer whales. Wildcoast Adventures leads visitors on multi-day camping and sea-kayaking tours in orca natural habitat. Along with both resident and transient pods of orcas, wildlife such as bald eagles, humpback whales, and porpoises call the region near Vancouver Island home. They also lead kayaking expeditions to the Discovery Islands and Desolation Sound, whose warm, calm waters cover 60km of shoreline with views of the mountains above
