Q:

Can I certify with Diabetes

David T.  asked on  Nov 15, 2012

A:

There are a lot of divers who have diabetes and dive. this does not mean that you have the all clear to go for you certification. It all depends if your healthy and fit and the diabetes are under control & you talk to your doctor. please go to the Diver alert Network http://www.diversalertnetwork.org/ and type in diabetes in the search window and do some research to find out if diving could be for you

Q:

Does the check-out dive have to be completed by April 30? Water temps will still be pretty cold at that time of year.

A:

our check- out divesdo start in April (and Yes the water is a little chilly) but you have until November to complete that portion of the class

Q:

Hi, how much is the course book, checkout dive, and mask, snorkel, fins, and boots needed for certification? Can this equipment be rented on site? Are the snorkel sets sold at BJ's and Costco (Body Glove brand I believe) sufficient quality? If so, what is the price of the boots alone? I am just trying to determine how much additional cost will be involved to complete the certification. Also, what is the minimum age to complete the course alone, with no parent present in the class? Thank you!!

Adrienne H.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

Hi Adrienne, The Education kit for the class, which includes your on-line portion is $83.95, the open water checkout dives are $55 including the rental gear( wetsuit, hood, gloves, weights, BCD, regulator and tanks). We do not rent the mask, snorkel, fins and boots. Our dive quality starter package ranges from $150 and up. We suggest you try on the mask, boots and fins to find what fits best. If you do get that set-up you also receive a gear bag and 15% off. As far as the Body Glove product, it looks to be geared to just snorkeling. Snorkel fins do not have the power you get from scuba fins. The age requirement for the class is 12 years old. Hope this has helped. Any other questions feel free to e-mail staff@weu.com. Thank you!
