Naturalist "Wildman" Steve Brill takes groups of kids and adults on walks through the likes of Central Park, Prospect Park, and other public areas throughout the region. On his walks, he teaches participants how to identify and forage for edible and medicinal wild plants and appreciate their time with nature. All tours last several hours. "Wildman" Steve Brill

"The whole world is my garden," author and naturalist Steve Brill told the Los Angeles Times in 2012—and he means that literally. For more than 32 years, the naturalist has been taking groups into the relative wilds of New York City and beyond to find treasures—edible ones—in parks and other public areas. From identifying mushrooms to knowing where medicinal plants are likely to grow, he helps tour-goers open their eyes to wild foods that have always been right in front of them and even provides recipes to help them make the most of their finds.
