Rivers were humanity's first true highways, transporting goods, driving economies, and enabling humorous kayak jams. Navigate historic waterways with a drink in your hand with today's Groupon for black water excursions with Wilmington Water Tours.
Choose one of two waterway adventures:
- $12.50 for one Up River Black Water Excursions (up to a $25 value)
- $22.50 for one Sunday Brunch on the Water tour (a $45 value)
Setting out from the Cape Fear Riverwalk, Wilmington Water Tours' black water excursions provide a singular way to see the cypress-lined banks of American history. The two and a half hour Up River Black Water Excursions explores the upper reaches of Cape Fear's untouched vistas; keep a keen eye out for wildlife such as egrets, wild turkeys, bears, alligators, kingfishers, ibis, and runaway child stars. For a tipplingly terrific trip, enrich the experience with an offering for the boat-borne bar.
For a different moveable feast, embark upon a three-hour Sunday Brunch on the Water cruise and feel the cool breeze in your teeth and a warm, delicious brunch buffet, and a complimentary mimosa or Bloody Mary. No two brunch cruise destinations are the same, with the boat's course and speed subject only to the weather, the captain's whims, and last week's horoscopes.
- The Upriver Black Water Excursion provides a great way to see Wilmington from a different angle. Having lived here for 12 years now, I’ve never once ventured upstream, mainly because I didn’t know there was anything interesting up that way. I was wrong. – John Hitt, Encore Archives
- Tours on board the fast catamaran "Wilmington" are one of the best experiences, and best values, for first-time visitors as well as for Wilmingtonians of many years as I am. – slc624, TripAdvisor
Wilmington Water Tours
Moved by their love for the Cape Fear River, Wilmington Water Tours' owners decided to found Wilmington Water Tours in order to share with others the history and the beauty of the area. The owners' passion soon garnered attention, and
Today, they own the Wilmington, a completely covered catamaran that can accommodate seating up to 49 people. Groups board the vessel to explore the waters of Cape Fear. They cruise the historic harbor, watching the silhouettes of buildings transform into molten-colored spires in the sunset. They can also explore the history, wildlife, and mysterious channels of the Cape Fear River. Passengers can join the staff on sunset cruises as they feature local musicians to wash away the worries.
An addition to the Wilmington, the Bizzy Bee Water Taxi now transports passengers from three stops on the Wilmington side of the river to the USS North Carolina Battleship.
