Then, guests will be carried away from the bustle of town and out into quiet waters the during the 90 minute Sunset Cruise on the water with live music. The ship’s built-in sound system enhances the performance of the musicians as guests watch the sun descend into the horizon.
Alternatively, on the morning Black Water Adventure, guests travel to the upper reaches of Cape Fear River on a narrated cruise based on the ecology and history of the area. The banks, largely unchanged for more than 400 years, hug the river’s curves with dense thickets of cypress, which now conceal the regional history of Native Americas and early colonial settlers. Birds and other wildlife also lie in wait to pose for a photographer’s lens.
If guests desire to travel south of Wilmington, they can take advantage of the narrated Down River Maritime History cruise. Topics, which change weekly, explore the river and those who have traveled it, such as North Carolina pirates and blockade runners. The Captain will also shed light on facts regarding the State Port and the early shipping industry of the river.
