Local artists teach pupils to re-create famous paintings & images while sipping libations in neighborhood settings

Wine and art have been inextricably linked in mainstream culture ever since people realized that sniffing one made the other taste better. Enlighten interchangeable palates with today’s Groupon: for $17, you get one art class from Wine and Palette (a $35 value). Check the class calendar for locations and times.

Wine and Palettes’ local artists guide aspiring Van Gogh’s and oenophiles as they re-create famous masterworks with calculated brushstrokes and sips of fermented-grape libations. Their laid-back art classes have taken on such projects as painting a colorful aboriginal mandala at Johnny Carino’s Italian restaurant, and composing a close-up of a bright-pink flamingo at In the Raw Sushi. Wine and Palette supplies all necessary materials, including paint, aprons, brushes, and scaffolding on Sistine Chapel night. At the end of the evening, each paint-slinger heads home with their own handmade masterpiece.

Though drinks are not included, all Wine and Palette events tender tasty drink specials, ensuring that savory syrahs and mouthwatering merlots flow like midmorning manhattans. Class sizes and lengths vary, but most contain around 40 participants and run up to three hours.
