What You'll Get

True wine connoisseurs teach themselves to distinguish varietals, identify flawed bottles, and cry pure chardonnay. Become one with the grape with this Groupon.

$69 for an Italian-Wine Class for Two ($150 Value)

Although Italy has historically grown more grape varietals across more of its surface area than France or Spain, the concept of fine wine has only been adopted relatively recently. This is the subject of WineNot Boutique’s Italian Paradox class, which covers the Boot’s long winemaking history with special attention to choosing the best vintages from various regions and pairing wines with food.

During the class, students sample six Italian wines complemented by an antipasto plate put together by Villa Banca Restaurant; Groupon holders can also head to Villa Banca after class for a complimentary appetizer. Italian Paradox classes take place on Saturdays from 5 to 7 p.m. from September 29 through December 12, 2012.

WineNot Boutique

Owner Svetlana Yanushkevich has spent the majority of her life surrounded by wine. She grew up on the southern peninsula of Ukraine, in a territory renowned for its 2,000-year-old winemaking tradition. After moving to the US in 2002, she built upon that foundation by managing wine programs at prestigious restaurants and earning a diploma from the renowned Wine and Spirit Education Trust in London.

In 2010, Svetlana added "wine-shop owner" to an already impressive résumé when she opened the doors to WineNot Boutique, winner of The Hippo magazines Best Wine Shop in 2011 and 2012. Today, WineNot Boutique's visitors gather to enjoy tastes from around the globe and, perhaps most importantly, benefit from Svetlana's wealth of knowledge. Collectible wines, artisan cheeses, and gourmet foods parade across the shop's shelves, and wine education events, such as weekly complimentary tastings, let novices ingest loads of wine-related facts without having to eat the pages of their Wine for Dummies book.
