What You'll Get
Helicopter pilots are in constant danger of action stars climbing aboard their craft and throwing them out; kayakers, however, need only fear falling helicopter pilots. Steer an unstealable vessel with today's Groupon to Wingra Boats in Vilas Beach. Choose between the following options:
- For $10, you get a two-hour kayak, tandem kayak, or canoe rental (up to a $24 value).
- For $20, you get a stand-up paddleboarding lesson (a $35 value).
The friendly staff at Wingra Boats teaches lake-ready riders of all ages the ways of the wave through comprehensive paddleboard lessons and rents out an expansive assortment of more than 150 seaworthy vessels. For two hours, mariners can traverse Lake Wingra’s placid waters in a single kayak or cast off in a tandem vessel with a significant other or persistent tax collector. The lake's protected shorelines make for a lack of motorboats so that multipassenger canoes aren't forced to compete for water space, ensuring stress-free voyages.
Those opting for the one-hour, stand-up paddleboarding lesson will be shown the watery ropes by one of Wingra’s paddle pros. Pupils hop atop a board provided by Paddle Board Specialists and learn how to wield a one-bladed oar to propel themselves over frothy spumes and peaceful waters. Aqueous athletes can benefit from the great workout stand-up paddleboarding provides, and an optional hour of post-lesson paddling allows students to hone their newfound skills. Wingra's Villas Park location touts beautifully scenic backdrops of lakeside parks and a local zoo filled with wave-running polar bears.

About Wingra Boats
Since the 1950s, Wingra Boats has outfitted groups and individuals for treks along the serene, wake-free Lake Wingra with their fleet of water vessels. Starting out with a small squad of canoes, the company has grown to include more than 100 canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, rowboats, and standup paddleboards. In addition to supplying rentals, the staff keep limbs limber with yoga—performed on dry land or atop paddleboards—and strengthens cores with standup-paddleboard lessons. Youngsters get in on the action during Camp Wingra sessions, where they learn to cast, reel, and ask fishes for any seven cards, or paddle and play aboard kayaks and canoes. The staff also lead guided tours and birding expeditions, and tuck vessels away in a private boat marina and storage facility.
