Q:

I want to buy this for my son's 18th birthday, it will be on 8/30. I've noticed these offers every several months, any chance there will be another one to include August 30th? Since he will be 18 I wanted to verify that he could receive the flying lessons and fly under supervision with the certified pilot and two others passengers.

A:

Hi Virginia, I suggest you purchase the option of your choice now and then schedule the flight for August 30th. The voucher's discount price//value is valid so long as you schedule or reserve your flight before the expiration date. The minimum age is 16. FAA regulations require that a person be 16 to solo, or fly by themselves. You must be 17 years of age to obtain a Private Pilot License and 18 years of age to obtain a Commercial Pilot License. Q:

Does the weight limit 395 include the weight of pilot also ? Suppose if I am taking this session with my wife and son as passengers then 395lb is weight of Me+My Wife+My Kid; or it is weight of Me+My Wife+My Kid+Pilot. I really love to take my both my wife + kid with me.

A:

Hi Pankaj, The 395 pound weight limit is for the total combined weight of you and your guest passengers. To use your example, it could be the weight of (You, Your Wife and your Kid). We encourage your to bring your wife and kid. It's a great family experience and it's also a great date experience for a couple. Steve

Q:

Hello, I just needed a little clairification on the weight limit. Is the 395 weight limit per person or a total max weight for the student and any additional passengers?

Erin D.  asked on  Apr 17, 2013

A:

Hi Erin, The 395 pound weight limit is for the total combined weight of you and your guest passengers. The FAA and aircraft manufacturer establish weight capacity limits for all aircraft. This is why they weigh your luggage on commercial flights. The 395 pound limit ensures that we are in compliance with FAA regulations. Steve

Q:

I noticed that in the fine print it states 16 or older. Does this mean both student and passenger? I have a 9 yr old daughter that would be the passenger if possible. Thank oyu

Mike B.  asked on  Apr 17, 2013

A:

Hi Mike, The pilot or student at the controls must be 16 years of age. There is no age restriction for passengers, though we usually recommend that kids be at least 4 years of age. Your daughter will love the flight! Steve
