Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

Is this one way? How do you return?

Susan S.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

The actual moving part of the trip is from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm while dinner is being served. The train returns to the station after dinner and remains parked for the duration of your visit. This allows early risers to get on their way at their convenience.

Q:

When the train comes back to the station, does the bar, dancing, etc... remain open for overnight guests or do you need to go into Spooner? Just wondering if the train itself continues to be a "party venue" per se.

Rob G.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

Rob: YES! the party usually continues well into the night in the lounge and club cars. Being that there are a number of cars on the train you are free to explore and will find vastly different atmosphere in each one, fun with music in the dance car and several places for quiet conversation and even playing cards or games. Overnight we have capacity for 38 guests currently which is plenty to make a good party.

Q:

If a gift certificate is purchased for a couple, can they dine at a private table or do they have to dine as a party of 4 as it looks like in the photo?

tamara m.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

Many of the tables in the Bed & Breakfast are 2 person tables and we generally book the train so that each couple can have a private table if they want. The exception is the First Class Private Car that has a 6-person table in the formal diningroom. Thanks

Q:

If we go with 2 other couples, are there any other options for 6 people to dine together w/o a 1st class upgrade? If not, can 1 first class upgrade allow for the 6 people to dine together? Thank you, Joe Oviguian

There are adjacent tables for any number of people. The first class car has the only 6 person table on the train. It is expressly reserved to the 3 couples that are staying on that car.

Q:

If I purchase and make reservations, then for some reason cannot go, can I then give it to a friend and are they permited to use the Groupon even though my name is on the certificate. Some business will only accept Groupons from the name listed on it.

George O.  asked on  Nov 16, 2012

A:

Not a problem. You will need to inform the ticket office of the change and get the groupon to us, either in advance by mail or send along with your friends. We also would need to know in advance about any menu change required by the friends. Thanks

C M.  asked on  Nov 16, 2012

A:

Dinner consists of a sampling of meats and cheeses, dinner salad, soup dejour, a choice of four entrees and a desert such as Turtle Cheesecake or Lemon Mist Torte. Breakfast begins at 6 am with muffins, rolls, juice and coffee and then a hot breakfast at 8 am with at least 3 choices such as scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, french toast, pancakes, sausage links...

Greg V.  from  Merchant  replied on  Nov 16, 2012

Q:

We are interested but were wondering if it is possible to eat all meals (including the 5 course meal) seated at a table for 2? Or is the main 5 course meal the one with the table for 6?

Wendee L.  asked on  Nov 16, 2012

A:

The table for 6 is in the Private Car Dianne Marie and is an upgrade to this groupon. If you purchase this groupon you can eat both meals (dinner and breakfast) at a table for 2. Couples frequently meet couples with similar interests and often choose to sit with other couples during meals, but this is not required.
