Q:

So as far as the sleeping arrangements, it's essentially two singles? Unless you upgrade...

Shannon K.  asked on  Nov 15, 2012

A:

That is correct. This is the standard sleeping car arrangement for most of the last century. The First Class Private Car Dianne Marie is an exceptional car that showcases the best of what was available during the first few decades of the twentieth century.

Q:

I do not see any guidelines for dates of travel. I am also wondring about it being totally dark at that time. Does anyone know if it is still owrth it to do in the winter witout being able to see the surrounding country???

Amparo G.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

Please visit http://www.spoonertrainride.com/bedandbreakfast.htm and scroll down to the bottom of the page for the complete calendar of available dates. You have the opportunity to select from a few remaining Fri and Sat nights in 2012 and from 135 dates in 2013. The train has lighting under each car that shines outward to illuminate the countryside after dark. Travel during the late fall and winter is good in that the sight distance into the woods is greater because the leaves are not on the trees. Also, once the snow falls the landscape is very pretty.

Q:

What is the normal speed of this train? I went on a dinner train trip once that traveled about five miles per hour and was a disappointment as golfers were walking along the train tracks and traveling as fast as was the train?

Ron B.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

The train operates between 8 - 12 mph. The train has no destination...it is about the experience of dining onboard and the atmosphere of meeting new people on a historic train.

Q:

We would like to know the approximate size of the sleeping room. Also, does it have electricity? Thanks

Roberta S.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

The sleeping rooms are approximately 5' x 7' and have a separate toilet room. Shower room is available at the end of the hall. Each room does have 110v electricity.

Q:

How about if I want to travel alone?

Ashok S.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

You may travel alone. However you may find that the accommodations with the single upper and lower beds lend themselves to traveling with a friend. This experience is a great way to meet people and is alot of fun whether traveling with a spouse, significant other, family member or a close friend.

Q:

Is this handicap accessable>

MaryAnn O.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

Unfortunately, due to the age and construction of the equipment the Bed & Breakfast is not wheelchair accessible. We can accommodate a guest that has at least some mobility i.e. the ability to walk 15-20 feet. We do have a lift for passengers that cannot do stairs.

Q:

We would like to do this along with another couple. Will we be able to dine together as a foursome? Thanks ! Jackie C

Jackie C.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

Yes. If you are making separate reservations please inform the ticket agent of the name of the other party that you will be traveling with so you may be placed in adjacent bedrooms and seated together for dinner.

Q:

I want to clarify that this Groupon is for two people on one

Carol G.  asked on  Nov 14, 2012

A:

Carol: That's right this GROUPON is for two people...and includes a 5-course dinner prepared fresh onboard while the train rolls through the northwoods on a 3-hour ride, a couple of cocktails each, overnight in a traditional Pullman bedroom featuring upper and lower beds, and a hot breakfast in the morning. This is a great romantic getaway, or alot of fun for a girls weekend away. Buy extras and give them to friends or family and come together for a unique group experience. Meet new people from around the country onboard the train!
