Q:

I presume the train leaves Spooner at 6PM and retuns to Spooneer at 9PM. Is there a map I could see where the train route is? Thanks, Kodo Kawamura Kodomn@yahoo.com 952-994-4155 Cel Phone 952-881-7188 Home phone 8610 Queen Ave, S. Bloomington, MN 55431

A:

The train departs the station and travels north to Trego then turns northeast and travels along the Namekagon River then through Earl and on toward Springbrook. Tracks generally follow the basic route of hwy 63 although not right along the highway for much of the trip.

Q:

I have purchased this Groupon and additionally a $100 gift certificate to allow for the first class upgrade. We plan to give this as a Christmas gift. Do you think it is advisable to call and reserve a 2013 now (on behlaf of the recipient), or do you think there will be plenty of spring/summer availabilty for the first class accomodations remaining after Christmas so the recipient can pick their own date. In addition, when we present this gift, do explain that dinner will be in the dining car or is it private dining?

Kristine P.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

Kristine: Great Idea to purchase as a christmas gift. This has been a very popular gift the past couple of years. I would suggest that you let your receipient know that they should call for reservations as soon as possible to assure the best availability of dates. It generally does not work very well making a date selection for other people. There are 135 available dates in 2013 so they should be able to find something that will fit their schedule. Dinner in the Dianne Marie (former Railroad Presidents Private Car) is at a common table seating all three couples that are staying on the car. We can accommodate individual couples that wish to dine at a private table in another car during meal service. All they have to do is let the ticket office and their onboard hostess know upon check in. Thanks for some good questions.

Q:

If a gift certificate is purchased for a couple, can they dine at a private table or do they have to dine as a party of 4 as it looks like in the photo?

tamara m.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

Many of the tables in the Bed & Breakfast are 2 person tables and we generally book the train so that each couple can have a private table if they want. The exception is the First Class Private Car that has a 6-person table in the formal diningroom. Thanks

Are kids allowed on this trip if so I have 2. one is 10 and other is 3 how much does it cost for them and how is the sleeping arrangements for them.

Murali T.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

As stated in the Fine Print the Bed & Breakfast train is not appropriate for children at this time. The railroad does offer a number of family friendly excursions throughout the year including an upcoming Santa Pizza Train each Saturday from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Thanks

Q:

When the train comes back to the station, does the bar, dancing, etc... remain open for overnight guests or do you need to go into Spooner? Just wondering if the train itself continues to be a "party venue" per se.

Rob G.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

Rob: YES! the party usually continues well into the night in the lounge and club cars. Being that there are a number of cars on the train you are free to explore and will find vastly different atmosphere in each one, fun with music in the dance car and several places for quiet conversation and even playing cards or games. Overnight we have capacity for 38 guests currently which is plenty to make a good party.

Q:

How much more for the deluxe bedroom? I assume you buy that at the time of purchase the Groupon

marilyn W.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012

A:

Payment of $100.00 at time of date specific reservation will allow you to upgrade to the First Class Overnight Service. Be aware that there are only 3 of this type of room available each night and they tend to sell out early so make your date specific reservation very early. Call our office at 715-635-3200 to book an upgrade. Thanks

Q:

Can you upgrade to the first class option?

sonee b.  asked on  Nov 13, 2012
