Welcome to Groupon, Appleton! For our inaugural deal, $7 gets you $15 worth of food and drinks at Wooden Nickel Sports Bar & Grill, located at 217 E College Ave. Since this is everyone's first Groupon, allow us to briefly explain how it works.
How Groupon Works
Groupon is a combination of the words group and coupon. Each day, we offer an unbeatable deal on the best of Appleton: restaurants, spas, sporting events, theater, and more. By promising businesses a minimum number of customers, we get discounts you won't find anywhere else. We call it "collective buying power." If you want to get the deal, just click BUY before the offer ends at midnight. If the minimum number of people (5 for today's deal) sign up by the end of the day, you'll be emailed a gift certificate the next morning. You can print your Groupons or redeem them with our mobile app. Use them whenever you want until the deal expires–today's expires in six months. If not enough people join, no one gets the deal (and you won't be charged), so invite your friends to make sure you get the discount!
Before sports bars, the only place to view eight games simultaneously was inside the brain of a spider. Achieve octovision with today's Groupon: for $7, you get $15 worth of American fare and drinks at Wooden Nickel Sports Bar & Grill in downtown Appleton. Wooden Nickel Sports Bar & Grill features more than 20 beers on draft, 10 TVs, and a hearty menu packed with classic comfort foods. Sample an appetizer of cheese curds ($6.95) and dine on a barroom classic from the extensive burger options, such as the massive grand-slam double burger, with two 1/3-pound patties on a butter-toasted semmel bun ($6.99, $8.74 with fries). Wooden Nickel keeps patrons entranced long after the meal with frosty beers and a plethora of sports programming, including ESPN Gameplan, NFL Sunday Ticket, Fox Sports, NBA League Pass, and an entire channel dedicated to the latest Xtreme sport, barefoot volcano crocheting.
Eight Yelpers give Wooden Nickel Sports Bar & Grill a four-star average:
Wooden Nickel Sports Bar & Grill
The Wooden Nickel Sports Bar & Grill could easily throw out the tables and chairs, burn the menus, and close down the bar—even then, people would have plenty to do and see. While diners feast on burgers, they bask in the glow of televisions broadcasting sports from ESPN GamePlan, NFL Sunday Ticket, and Fox Sports Network. Trivia competitions bring friendly rivalries into the eatery on weeknights, where players can match minds to win free drinks and bragging rights at the next Mensa track meet. The kitchen's pub grub mixes well with draft and bottled beers, which wait in the wings to swoop in and extinguish thirst pangs or rinse burger residue from hands.
