For $5, today's side deal gets you one ticket to Gulf Aid: A Beach Preservation Series, featuring performances by Taylor Hollingsworth, Kate Taylor, Chris Adler, and Hugh Mitchell at the WorkPlay Theater in Birmingham (a $10 value). The show takes place on Friday, August 27, at 8 p.m.
The third concert in Gulf Aid: A Beach Preservation Series, Friday night’s show will feature community-strengthening tunes and a concrete way to help repair the Gulf’s recently damaged beaches. Your ticket fee will help the series reach its donation goal of $10,000, and should your rational mind, emotional heart, or equidistant, emotionorational throat dictate that you pledge more money, you can make donations to WorkPlay at any point. The Alabama-raised Hugh Mitchell and Birmingham native Kate Taylor will regale the crowd with meditative tunes on work, play, and how whiskey fits into both, while Taylor Hollingsworth, fresh off work with Conor Oberst and recording his own album, Life With a Slow Ear, combines worldly experience with Alabaman roots. A to-be-announced speaker will give a quick overview on the most effective methods of individual disaster relief, and information on the crisis and volunteer opportunities will be available at the concert.
A $3 charge will be collected at the door from all ticket holders under 21 years of age.
Though WorkPlay's Beach Preservation Series does not yet have many reviews, WorkPlay has more than 6,000 Facebook fans.
