In his early 20s and about to debut at Carnegie Hall, clarinetist Julian Milkis screwed up his courage and called The King of Swing, Benny Goodman himself, for advice. To his amazement, the notoriously miserly bandleader offered not only his two cents but his services as a private teacher ... free of charge. Today, Goodman's generosity makes perfect sense: Milkis is one of the finest clarinetists of his generation. Known as the "King of Crossover," the woodwind virtuoso now joins the Siberian Virtuosi, a string ensemble from the coldest city in the world (Yakutsk, Russia), for a special seasonal program, Taste of the Holidays. Enjoy unique arrangements of works spanning classical and popular music, with choice selections from Bach, Handel, Tchaikovsky, Gershwin, Rossini and, yes, Goodman, when Milkis returns to Carnegie Hall for this dynamic collaboration.
