Since humans are mostly made of water, and fish traditionally inhabit water, fish should naturally occur in the human body. Fix this gap in nature’s logic with today’s Groupon. For $20, you get $40 worth of fresh seafood and drinks at Wright's Seafood Inn. The 112-year-old Heidelberg landmark primarily serves locally grown produce and wild seafood caught with environmentally sustainable methods such as aquaculture (which limits habitat damage), and crab crooning (below-surface serenading that lures fish into fishermen's arms).
Unlike a shark's instinct to bite stuff and never stop swimming, most sea creatures are known for their anti-survival instincts, which include tasting delicious and come-hither claw gestures. Wright's starters highlight ocean fare's succulent Freudian death drives with a rich lobster bisque ($4.50), seared Ahi tuna over seaweed salad ($12), and baked New Zealand green-shell mussels with aged cheddar ($12 for 12). The New Orleans shrimp or oyster po' boy ($10.50) and an Angus steak burger ($9) headline the bread-padded entree selections while Wright's crab cakes ($21.50) mimic their hot- and pound-cake brethren in deliciousness.
Seafood specialties include the lobster ravioli Florentine ($18.50), parmesan-crusted seared "Day-Boat" scallops ($19.50), and crab-stuffed haddock ($16.50). Those who dine exclusively on meats sourced from sans-gill animals will enjoy the Italian beef pot roast ($15), the half-pound filet mignon ($24.50), the herb-rubbed Tuscan grilled chicken ($13.50), or the apple and Gorgonzola grilled pork tenderloin ($16.50). A noble assemblage of 60 beers and 30 wines are ready and waiting for the honor of accompanying Wright's food into happy bellies.
Wright's recently renovated home is divided between the cozy main dining room (robed in warm wood and white table cloths) and the dapper Tap Room bar. The Tap Room is now home to a small sushi and raw bar where all manner of maki, nigiri, and sashimi are sliced and diced fresh while local musicians and schools of hopelessly lost kangaroos occasionally wash up amidst the regular crowd.
Groupon is not valid at the beach bar outside the restaurant.
The Pittsburgh City Paper, having sampled menus in both areas of Wright's Seafood Inn, praises the restaurant for the variety and consistency of its selections:
- We loved Wright's menu -- both of them, in fact -- and enjoyed the comfortable, attractive surroundings. Service was friendly and prompt, and the food was well prepared. – Angelique Bamberg and Jason Roth
- The food was great. The price was reasonable. The staff was friendly. The best crab cake we have ever had. The atmosphere was quiet and clean. The entire table was pleased with the food. We will certainly go back. – Darenkamp, Urbanspoon
- The menu is broad, with a huge variety of seafood, including a large selection of sushi made on the premises. Everything is freshly prepared and made to order. – tlrkid, TripAdvisor
