About Xtend Barre Lafayette
Xtend Barre's founder, Andrea Rogers, a former professional dancer who had toured with such celebrities as Enrique Iglesias and Aaron Carter, turned to Pilates after slowing down her frenetic pace. She discovered that it helped her rehabilitate her dance injuries and kept her in shape, so she became a Pilates teacher. Yet, planks could not supplant plies in her heart.
"I started to crave the creative element of dance in my workouts again," Andrea told Shape magazine, "so I approached the owner of the studio where I worked with the idea of a class that combined Pilates, dance, and barre."
After playing around with the exact fitness formula for a while, she hit upon a method that enhanced flexibility, improved balance, and strengthened the core. She called her method Xtend Barre, and it quickly became a press favorite.
Today, Xtend Barre has hundreds of classrooms in countries around the world and teachers devoted to leading students through the moves that Andrea developed. Of course, there are variations of her original workout, too, including ones that incorporate props and ones tailored to athletes injured on the field or while dumping Gatorade over their coach's head.
