Ye Olde Taverne
First opened in 1760 in West Brookfield, Ye Olde Taverne has had some famous guests over the centuries: George Washington, Jerome Bonaparte, and John Adams each stopped by for a pint, once upon a time.
Today, more than two-centuries later, the Massachusetts watering hole still serves pints, and it still has the same old-school feel. The chefs shop at the local butcher shop several times a week to get fresh meats for their pub food: 10-ounce sirloins, chicken pot pie, and the like. They also serve pizzas with toppings such as shrimp, caramelized onion, and feta, all of them stretched by hand and grilled in a wood-fired oven, or as George Washington would have called it, an oven. The Taverne also offers up its space for private events and functions.
