Q:

Are the files on the DVD editable? For instance, I may want to cut out scenes or reorganize them once they are digitized. Can I do that? If so, what format will they be in and what tool will I need to edit? Thanks. Sandi

Sandi G.  asked on  Feb 7, 2013

A:

Hi Sandi , thanks for the question. The files on the YesDVD are not restricted. As long as you have your own editing software for Windows or Mac, you will be able to utilize the video files to edit your footage. Your videos are originally converted into an MPEG-2 format and finalized into a .VOB format for viewing on DVD players. We would also like to take this time to let you know that all film, video tape, and digital media transfer orders will include access to our MemoryShare website which will allow you to view, share, edit and order additional copies of your videos online. While you won't be able to edit the footage prior to receiving a DVD, you can always use our online editing tool to create an additional customized DVD for $8.99 plus shipping. Alternatively, since the files on the DVD are not restricted, you may always utilize the video files on your disc and use editing software on your computer. Q:

My vhs tape is very old, about 20 years old. Is that a problem?

Laureen R.  asked on  Feb 7, 2013

A:

Hi Laureen, thanks for the question. We are able to transfer tapes of all ages! However, it is important to note that tapes degrade over time. The amount of deterioration a tape undergoes does not depend on solely on its age, but on various aspects such as brand, storage conditions, number of recordings, tape handling, and number of times it was played. If your tape has has degraded significantly, this will be affect the quality of your DVD. For example, if our system cannot pick up a video signal from a portion of your tape, this would result in a blue screen for that section on your DVD. There are also rare occasions when we may not be able to pick up a video signal from your video tape at all, resulting in the tape having to be returned unprocessed. We definitely recommend having the footage transferred before it degrades! To learn more about our Groupon offer and read more of our frequently asked questions, you can also visit our website here.

Q:

What about 5" reel to reel audio tapes? Can you convert those? These are old tapes with small amounts of recordings on each tape. Would the charge be by tape or by the amount digitized?

Barbara H.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Q:

Does the $19 groupon deal cover 120 slides, tax, & postage? If not, what are the costs other than the $19?

Pam H.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Hi Pam, thank you for the question. The pricing for slides to DVD is $0.49 per slide. The Groupon deal is worth $60 of our services which can cover up to 122 slides to DVD without tax or shipping. There are several ways you can ship your order to us. You can: purchase an EasyShip Kit, a prepaid shipping label from our company, or use a self-shipping method. If you choose self-shipping, no additional charges would be added to your order and the cost of shipping would be determined by the courier service you wish to use. If you choose to purchase a prepaid shipping label from us, you can do so during checkout. The cost is a flat $9.99 and you will receive a UPS label to print out after your order is submitted. You can also purchase the EasyShip kit to ship the order to us. The EasyShip Kit costs $19.99 and all you do is place an order for the kit, pack up your materials in the box we provide and send to us via prepaid postage. We do the rest-- including reviewing your materials, giving you an estimate, and then placing your order for you (the prepaid postage you receive will include our address). Shipping back to you is a flat $10.99. It's also a good to know that if your order is over $150, you receive free shipping to us, and back to you. As for the tax, the amount will be based on where you live. To learn more about our Groupon deal and transfer service, you can also visit our website here.

A:

Hi Pam, You might want to check out the details within the Groupon offer as it provides some examples of how you could spend your $60 on YesVideo and also mentions that the examples do not include shipping or tax. Our Groupon offers $60 in value on our site so that can be spent on transferring, shipping and handling. We charge $0.49 per image transfer (slides or photos or negatives) so 120 slide transfers is $58.80. You would still be required to pay for any applicable tax and/shipping. Return shipping with your new DVDs is $10.99 and essentially covers the cost of postage, materials and handling (we don't make any money on shipping). You can read more questions and answers on our groupon customer site at: http://www.yesvideo.com/groupon. Cheers!
