Q:

can you transfer a commercially purchased VHS tape to DVD using the groupon offer---adantes@cox.net

andy d.  asked on  Feb 7, 2013

A:

Hi Andy, thanks for the question. YesVideo's focus is to help your family relive, share and protect special moments; we do not focus on transfers of copyrighted commercial material. We are capable of transferring professionally recorded footage, but we must follow the US Copyright Laws when transferring all professional footage. Any copyright-protected material, such as Hollywood movie videotapes and videotaped television programs, cannot be processed without a copyright release form signed by the copyright owner. Q:

Im not even sure what I have on some of my VHS tapes or how long they are. If you guys see that they are damaged or something will you contact me?

Brook H.  asked on  Feb 7, 2013

A:

Thanks for the question, Brooke. Definitely! If you send in a broken video tape, we would first need to repair it in order to transfer it on to a DVD; we cannot transfer a tape broken. Before we proceed with the repairs, we contact you to notify you of the circumstances and obtain your authorization to repair the tape. We can repair videotapes if the ribbon is snapped, wrinkled, or if the case is broken. Keep in mind that when we repair a wrinkled ribbon, the footage in that section will be lost. The cost for video tape repairs is $10.00 for a ribbon repair and $15.00 for a repair with case replacement. Q:

Do disposable cameras count as negatives? If so, how many could I send in for the $19?

Brook H.  asked on  Feb 7, 2013

A:

Hi Brook, thank you so much for your interest in our service. Unfortunately, we are not able to transfer disposable cameras. However, we have many accepted formats you may be interested in, including various types of video tapes, film reels, images (slides, negatives, prints), and digital media (USB sticks, memory cards). You can submit any of those to have transferred on to a DVD! To read more about our Groupon offer, you can also visit our website here!

Q:

I have about 10 8mm movies, how does the groupon work for this?

Julie  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Hi Julie! Definitely! This Groupon is for $60 worth of our accepted formats. Since 8 mm film and 8 mm tapes are both supported formats, you can definitely use your Groupon for this transfer! Our pricing is $0.18 per foot for film and $19.99 per tape, up to two hours for tape transfers. If you would like to learn more about our Groupon offer and read more of our frequently asked questions, you can also visit our website here!

Q:

Do you handle 8MM? The reels are about 6-8" in diameter.

Summer H.  asked on  Feb 6, 2013

A:

Thanks for the question, Summer. Yes! Our supported film formats include 8 mm, super 8, and 16 mm film. Our pricing is $0.18 per foot, so the final cost of your order would be determined by the amount of feet transferred. However, you can easily determine the cost of your order by visiting our page here. Simply tell us what you have and it will automatically give you a quote depending on what you enter! You can also view our pricing list on that page. I hope this helps!

Q:

I have about 6 or more 30 min. VHS tapes. Would this apply to 3 hours of that many?

Sarah C.  asked on  Feb 6, 2013

A:

Hi Sarah! We do not merge tapes together, so each tape submitted will be transferred on to its own DVD and have a base price of $19.99. Any tape exceeding two hours will require a new DVD to be made, with a cost of $19.99 per additional DVD created. With the Groupon offer, you are receiving three transfers for the price of one! Q:

Just to make sure I'm reading it right...I can send in three two-hour VHS tapes for conversion for $19. Correct? Thank you

Linda H.  asked on  Feb 4, 2013

A:

Hi Linda, thanks for the question! Our pricing is $19.99 per video tape, up to two hours. We do not merge tapes together, so each tape submitted will be transferred on to its own DVD and have a base price of $19.99. The 2 hour limit is listed in the event that you have a tape longer than two hours. Since the DVDs can hold up to 2 hours, any tape exceeding two hours will require a new DVD to be made and a cost of $19.99 per additional DVD created.

Since the Groupon deal is for $60 worth of our service, that would be equivalent to 3 two-hour tapes ($19.99 each, for a total cost of $57.97). That's three 2-hour tapes for the price of one! You do, however, want to keep in mind that the examples do not include applicable tax or shipping. If you would like to use your Groupon value for shipping and handling, you can definitely do so. I hope this helps! To learn more about our Groupon deal and transfer service, you can also visit our website here.
