Q:

I have a dozen DVC mini DV marked 60 LP:90 that I'd like to convert to DVDs. I'm not clear about how many would fit on a DVD. Also how many can I send per order? Thanks.

Dennis L.  asked on  Feb 6, 2013

A:

Great question, Dennis! The deal is for you to spend the $60 any way you wish for our supported media types. Our pricing is $19.99 per video tape, up to two hours. We do not merge tapes together, so each tape submitted will be transferred on to its own DVD and have a base price of $19.99. Any tape exceeding two hours will require a new DVD to be made, with a cost of $19.99 per additional DVD created. You can submit as many video tapes as you would like in your order, but your $60 Groupon would cover three tapes with a duration time of 2 hours or less. Q:

Lets say I do the photos only option. Q1: What format do the photos come in? JPG, PNG, ? The last thing I want is a DVD of scrolling photos in DVD format. Q2: How do you receive/return the actual photo media? Are there shipping costs to the customer?

Jonathan D.  asked on  Feb 6, 2013

A:

Thanks for the question, Jonathan. With image transfers, we produce a data DVD with highest quality digital JPEG files (12 megapixels) to view and copy on your computer; the product is delivered without additional themes or audio.

There are several ways to ship your order to us. You can: purchase an EasyShip Kit, a prepaid shipping label from our company, or use a self-shipping method. If you choose self-shipping, no additional charges would be added to your order and the cost of shipping would be determined by the courier service you wish to use. If you choose to purchase a prepaid shipping label from us, you can do so during checkout. The cost is a flat $9.99 and you will receive a UPS label to print out after your order is submitted. The easiest way to ship your order is through our EasyShip Kit. With the EasyShip Kit, all you do is place an order for the kit (priced at $19.99), pack up your materials in the box we provide and send to us via prepaid postage -- we do the rest! It's also a good to know that if your order is over $150, you receive free UPS shipping to us, and back to you!

Your newly created discs along with original media are returned via UPS with a flat shipping rate of $10.99. If you would like to do so, you can even use part of your Groupon value toward the shipping costs. Q:

HI, What is the cost of return shipping a carousel or two of slides ? TIA!

SUSAN B.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Great question, Susan. Return shipping to you would be a flat $10.99, however, we do not accept carousel boxes, so the slides must be taken out of the carousels and shipped separately. We recommend submitting your slides in bundles of 25-50 each and then place a rubber band around them to secure them. For additional protection, you can also wrap the bundles in paper and then place the rubber-band on the bundle. If you wish to have your slides transferred in sequence, please number each slide or bundle (and indicate which side of the bundle to start from). To read more about our Groupon offer, you can also visit our website here!

Q:

I have 7" reel to reel 1/2" recording tape from about 1972. Do you convert that? If so, costs?

Jerry B.  asked on  Feb 4, 2013

A:

Hi Jerry, thank you so much for your interest in our service. Unfortunately, we are not able to transfer audio-only formats such as recording tapes. However, we have many accepted formats you may be interested in, including various types of video tapes, film reels, images (slides, negatives, prints), and digital media (USB sticks, memory cards). You can submit any of those to have transferred on to a DVD! To read more about our Groupon offer, you can also visit our website here!

Q:

What format does the video come in? Files MPG AVI Etc. Can the end user make copies etc and give to friends and family?

Gerald P.  asked on  Feb 4, 2013

A:

Thanks for the question! The videos are originally converted into an MPEG-2 format, but are finalized into a .VOB format to allow playing on standard DVD players. The YesDVD is copyrighted, but not copy protected. This means that YesVideo owns the design of the product and software on the DVD, but certainly not the content. The YesDVD can be copied using DVD copying software on your computer. Although we do not encourage this practice, YesVideo does not alter the disc to prevent you from making a copy. We would like to take this time to let you know that all video tape and film orders will include access to our MemoryShare cloud service which will allow you to view, share, edit, and order additional copies of your videos online!

Q:

I have very old, what I think is 8mm, that was shot at family gatherings. They appear to be about 3" in diameter but many only have a little on them. Can you do these and is it based per reel or amount on the reel? Thanks :)

Gerald P.  asked on  Feb 4, 2013

A:

Great question, Gerald! Our pricing is $0.18 per foot. This means that the $60 would cover approximately six of your 3" reels (not including applicable tax and shipping)! We do charge per foot and not per reel, so you will be charged for the actual amount transferred. With film orders, the film is cleaned, spliced and combined onto new 400 ft. reels. This means that your empty reels will be returned, along with the new 400 ft. reels containing your original footage.
