Q:

I have 16 mm news flims to be converted with sound. How much would that cost and can you convert with sound to DVD?

Antoinette D.  asked on  Feb 6, 2013

A:

Great question, Antoinette! Our film transfers are priced at $0.18 per foot, so the cost of your order would be determined by the amount of feet transferred. We are able to capture optical audio from 16 mm film, but not magnetic audio. Magnetic sound will look like a copper colored bar running down the length of the film whereas optical will look more like a jagged line going up/down. If you have audio that you would like to have transferred, remember to select "Actual Audio" from the audio options when placing your order. Q:

I want to buy the Groupon deal to send my VHS-C tapes. Reading the past replies, it looks like I can send in 3 of them (even though each is half hour each). Can you confirm this?. My understanding is your will charge me shipping only to return the DVDs. Is the return shipping charge per DVD or all DVDs together for flat 10.99?. Thanks.

Srinivasa M.  asked on  Feb 6, 2013

A:

Hi Srinivasa, thanks for the question! You are correct. Since we do not merge tapes together, each tape submitted will be transferred on to its own DVD and have a base price of $19.99; because your Groupon is for $60, that would be equivalent to three tapes with a duration time of 2 hours or less. You would be responsible for the shipping costs associated with shipping your order to us and back to you. There are several ways to ship your order to us. You can: purchase an EasyShip Kit, a prepaid shipping label from our company, or use a self-shipping method. If you choose self-shipping, no additional charges would be added to your order and the cost of shipping would be determined by the courier service you wish to use. If you choose to purchase a prepaid shipping label from us, you can do so during checkout. The cost is a flat $9.99 and you will receive a UPS label to print out after your order is submitted. The easiest way to ship your order is through our EasyShip Kit. With the EasyShip Kit, all you do is place an order for the kit (priced at $19.99), pack up your materials in the box we provide and send to us via prepaid postage -- we do the rest! Shipping back to you is a flat $10.99. If you would like to do so, you can even use part of your Groupon value toward the shipping costs. It's also a good to know that if your order is over $150, you receive free shipping to us, and back to you! Q:

I have old exercise tapes I purchased and want to convert them to DVDs and they are not available to purchase as DVDs, will you convert them? Also what is the shipping cost back to us?

gail c.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Hi Gail, thanks for the question. YesVideo's focus is to help your family relive, share and protect special moments; we do not focus on transfers of copyrighted commercial material. We are capable of transferring professionally recorded footage, but we must follow the US Copyright Laws when transferring all professional footage. Any copyright-protected material, such as Hollywood movie videotapes and videotaped television programs, cannot be processed without a copyright release form signed by the copyright owner. In regards to the shipping costs, the shipping back to you is a flat $10.99. Q:

How many photos can I submit?

Rae A.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Great question, Rae! You can submit as many photos as you would like! However, your Groupon will cover all charges up to its value. Since our image transfers are priced at $0.49 per image, this would be equivalent to 122 images ($59.78) without applicable tax and shipping costs. Q:

Does YesVideo also convert Mini DV media types?

Amy P.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Yes, they do work with Mini DV!

Allison J.  from  Self  replied on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Thanks for the question, Amy! As Allison said, we do transfer Mini DV tapes. Other accepted tapes formats include: VHS, Betamax, VHS-C, Hi-8, Digital, and 8 mm. Our pricing is $19.99 per video tape, up to two hours. We do not merge tapes together, so each tape submitted will be transferred on to its own DVD and have a base price of $19.99. Q:

do you convert sony camcorder 8mm tapes? If so how much does it cost per tape? Do you convert it to a digital format that is editable for example FCP compatible format or mp4?

Suzanne M.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

The do conver 8mm tapes. You can read more about pricing here.

Allison J.  from  Self  replied on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Hi Suzanne, thank you for the questions! Yes, we can transfer a wide variety of video tapes, including camcorder tapes! All of our accepted tape formats include: VHS, Betamax, VHS-C, Hi-8, Digital, 8mm, and MiniDV. Our pricing is $19.99 per video tape up, to two hours. We do not merge tapes together, so each tape submitted will be transferred on to its own DVD and have a base price of $19.99. Since the DVDs can hold up to two hours, any tape exceeding two hours will require a new DVD to be made and a cost of $19.99 per additional DVD transfer conducted.

Your videos are originally transferred into an MPEG-2 format, but finalized into a .VOB file for viewing on DVD players. However, the files on the DVD are not restricted, which means that as long as you have editing software on your computer, you will be able to utilize the video files to edit your footage; you may also use conversion software to convert the files into the desired format.

Q:

I have one VHS tape that I would like converted. Could I use the rest to convert photos to DVD? How many could I convert to equal the equivalent of two VHS tapes?

Julia L.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

The deal is for you to spend the $60 any way you wish for the businesses supported media types.

Allison J.  from  Self  replied on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Great question, Julia ! As Allison said, the deal is for you to spend the $60 any way you wish for our supported media types. Since you pay a la carte for your order, you can have combinations of the supported media types as well (different media types will go on different DVDs, but they can be placed in the same order). To calculate what you can get out of the Groupon with the media that you have, you can visit our page here and tell us what you have; it will automatically give you a quote depending on the quantity you enter! You can also view our pricing list on that page. I hope this helps!

Q:

Do you convert VHS-C tapes? Would each one be $19.95, given their short length?

Nancy H.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Yes, they do work with VHS-C tapes. You can see more about pricing here.

Allison J.  from  Self  replied on  Feb 5, 2013

Hi Nancy, thanks for the question! As Allison said, we do transfer VHS-C tapes. Other accepted tapes formats include: VHS, Betamax, VHS-C, Hi-8, Digital, 8mm, and MiniDV.

Our pricing is $19.99 per video tape, up to two hours. We do not merge tapes together, so each tape submitted will be transferred on to its own DVD and have a base price of $19.99. Since the Groupon deal is for $60 worth of our service, that would be equivalent to three 2-hour tapes (at $19.99 each, for a total cost of $57.97) -- that's three 2-hour tapes for the price of one! Q:

I have seven 7" reels; does that mean I can not use this Groupon to have them converted (says it only applies to the 3" reels).

Gary P.  asked on  Feb 5, 2013

A:

Hi Gary, thanks for the question. The Groupon deal is actually for you to spend the $60 any way you wish for our supported media types; the six 3" reels is only an example of what the $60 value will get you. Our pricing for film is $0.18 per foot, which would be equivalent to approximately 333 feet. A 7" reel generally holds 400 feet when full, for a price of $72 dollars per full reel. The deal is for you to spend the $60 any way you wish for our supported media types.
