YMCA at Virginia Tech

The YMCA at Virginia Tech’s mission is to build community through learning, leadership, and service. Adults can leap into a diverse number of continuing-education classes like pottery, Turkish grilling, ballroom dancing, and tai chi. On weekends, guides lead groups out into the wild during scenic hides that vary in difficulty; although YMCA-goers can get a dose of nature any day of the week by visiting the onsite community gardens, which enable people to grow their own plants or just stop and eat the roses.

Great organization for the community

VT YMCA is such a part of our community - with the awesome thrift store and programs. They do recycling of batteries and florescent tube lights and offer a place to donate unused items (instead of them going into the waste stream). They provide a way for the community to practice recycling and being green, not only with the environment but with their community gardens as well and offering ways to continually learn and grow.
