Yoga is unique in that it is the only medieval physical fitness art that does not involve firing crossbows at a grendel. Bend and stretch bloodlessly with today's Groupon: for $45, you get one month of unlimited classes (a $90 value) at Yoga East, with three convenient locations.
Yoga East's packed calendar of stretch sessions features a variety of disciplines, including hot yoga, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, gentle yoga, Yamuna body rolling, kettlebells classes, and more. Stick to traditional methods with Hatha yoga, or boost agility, posture, and endurance by attending Pilates sessions. The studios' combined class cocktail offers refreshment to students of all skill levels, whether just starting out, or a yogi with six years of experience and full lotus abilities. View full class descriptions here. Students are highly encouraged to bring their own mat, but mats are also available for rent at the studio ($1–$2).
Regularly practicing yoga can improve your quality of life by increasing muscle tone and flexibility, reducing stress, and stimulating weight loss. Yoga East brings more than 35 years of experience teaching yoga in Louisville and buckets of motivation to guide your body and mind overhaul. Recruit the guys from your sewing circle or the ladies from your crocodile-wrestling club to join you on your one-month journey across the yogaverse. Feed off the energy of friends to increase stimulation and add another friendly face into a sea of friendly faces.
Founded in 1974, Yoga East has spent nearly four decades guiding visitors along the path to mental serenity and physical wellness. The nonprofit educational organization holds more than 75 classes a week at three Louisville studios, inviting guests of all fitness backgrounds to flow through the tableaux of multiple yoga disciplines. Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and gentle yoga cull tension from muscles and foster flexibility. Classes can accommodate skill levels from gentle to advanced by modifying maneuvers and demanding that the tree and mountain poses be performed atop their namesakes.
Each Yoga East instructor has earned certification from Yoga Alliance. Their collective expertise enables the studios to offer teacher training as well as workshops, community events, and additional fitness courses, such as Pilates.
