Choose from Three Options

  • $65 for a one-hour guided horseback trail ride for two (a $150 value)
  • $75 for four weeks of one-hour group horseback-riding lessons for one (up to a $150 value)

Prior to one-hour guided trail rides, Yorktown Stables' expert equestrians match up riders with horses adequate for their skill levels before introducing riding basics during a 15-minute on-horse tutorial. Groups of about four riders set off on jaunts down scenic trails that wind through acres of natural beauty along the Poquoson River. Guests must arrive 30 minutes before each trail ride is scheduled to begin.

Small-group riding lessons include all horseback-riding gear and safety equipment, including helmets. See more information about riding lessons and trail rides.

Yorktown Stables

At Yorktown Stables, more than a dozen horses can often be found traipsing down trails that wind through acres of pastures and woods nestled alongside the Poquoson River. Helmed by seasoned equestrian Kristen Paster, the stables' staff teaches aspiring riders to bond with these same steeds during lessons in Western, English, and saddleseat riding. This healthy and diverse stable of horses accommodates riders of all levels, whether they’re children or adults, hobbyists or competitors, or humans or sentient saddles.
