Seasoned photo pros impart digital-SLR wisdom in six-hour classes & photographic field trips through picturesque Saluda Shoals Park

Digital technology has allowed for the introduction of many new art forms, just as Leonardo da Vinci once predicted on his blog. Upload a masterpiece with today's Groupon: for $89, you get a six-hour digital-photography class and field trip from Your Photo Safari (a $199 value). Check the online schedule for a complete list of upcoming classes.

Helmed by veteran shutterbug Gene Taylor, Your Photo Safari's six-hour classes introduce students to the photographic arts and the workings of digital SLR cameras. Classes with former photojournalist Gene detail the basics and advanced features of each student's digital picture snapper, such as how to set the white balance, how to reduce blur, how to shoot a great portrait, and how to remove the lens cap. After five hours of detailed instruction and one round of Duck, Duck, Goose, students take to their feet, following Gene through picturesque Saluda Shoals Park to snap images of flowers and the tree-lined banks of the Saluda River.

Groupon customers must register in advance for their class by 5/5/12.

About The River Center At Saluda Shoals Park Holiday Lights on the River

During classes at Your Photo Safari, a certified professional photographer with more than 30 years of experience introduces students to the photographic arts and the workings of DSLR cameras. Sessions begin in classroom settings, allowing students to get acquainted with camera basics as well as advanced features such as setting white balance and reducing blur. After learning how to navigate the multiple settings and buttons on their digital cameras, students traipse to area gardens to explore the natural world through their lenses. The hands-on experience allows students to take home artfully composed shots of plants bathed in natural light or trees planking over riverbanks in a bid for Internet fame.
