What You'll Get
Growling stomachs can hamper stealth operations, spoil belly dances, and, in extreme cases, induce dogs to attack. Quiet whimpering tummy tones with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of Mediterranean fare at Zaitoon Mediterranean Grill on Atlantic Boulevard.
Celebrating its fourth year, Zaitoon delivers diverse Mediterranean comestibles and seasonal fare the Florida Times Union called “a delight for your taste buds”. Executive chef Mike Barbour and his army of stove tamers have developed a bouquet of menu items reflecting the seaside region, plucking choice moments for French, Spanish, Greek, Italian, and Middle Eastern dining’s highlight reel.
The kitchen passes out hot and cold appetizers, from spanakopita ($8) to vegetarian dolmades ($7), keeping restless tummies in check and reminding mouthy taste buds just who pays the bills. Main courses rise to the occasion with a variety of meats and veggies, highlighted by the restaurant’s signature curried red-snapper meal ($27). After-dinner treats are equally bountiful, as Zaitoon’s dessert menu bursts with sweet treats and its coffee selection percolates the senses.
Zaitoon’s interior is like a one-way ticket to the Mediterranean without the tender embrace of a sentimental customs agent, thanks to the classic dark wood accents, leather couches in the bar area, and brightly patterned, Middle Eastern–influenced booth designs. When fresh air abounds, patrons can sit at an outdoor table, which offers plenty of space for invisible friends and room elephants. The wine cellar is another prideful point for the restaurant, stocking racks with crushed-grape specialties for pairing with its cast of culinary characters.
