What You'll Get
Grill lines proudly proclaim a steak’s deliciousness, just as tan lines verify skin’s superbness and tire tracks confirm it’s a hit-and-run rather than a heart attack. Track down telltale epicurean stripes with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of creative American fare and drinks at Zea Rotisserie & Grill in Homewood.
Collaboratively conceptualized by chefs Hans Limburg, Greg Reggio, and Gary Darling, Zea’s menu offers classic American and multicultural sandwiches, seafood, salads, and grilled and rotisserie fare. Begin the bustle in your belly with spinach dip topped with feta ($8.95). Then set your senses afloat with a light Asian tuna salad with crispy noodles, sesame seeds, almonds, and peanut vinaigrette ($13.95), or a chipotle mango shrimp salad ($12.95). Seafood entrees, including balsamic salmon ($18.50) and pesto-crusted trout ($18.95), pair swimmingly with sides such as buttered sweet potatoes and vegetable de jour. Twice-cooked crispy duck is slow roasted with herbs and honey soy sauce before it is crisped ($19.95). Zea's signature rotisserie ribeye steak is also doubly heat-handled, first on the rotisserie, then on the grill, before being topped with a horseradish tiger sauce ($24.50). To get grabbers on grilled goodies without getting burned, opt for a hickory-grilled chicken sandwich with jack cheese, chipotle aioli, and one side ($9.25), or a portobello veggie panini ($9.95).
In addition to its menu of hearty fare, Zea Rotisserie & Grill serves a full list of house-made microbrews and wines by the glass ($6–$13). Rinse down rations with the light suds of Zea's clearview golden lager, or relish Zea’s elegant décor while decoding the flavors of a complex Pontchartrain porter for dessert.
The Birmingham News gives Zea Rotisserie & Grill four stars, and Birmingham Magazine gives it a stellar review. The friendly atmosphere at Zea Rotisserie & Grill restaurants was recognized by New Orleans City Business. Ninety-one percent of Urbanspooners recommend the establishment:
- You’re going to like the menu, and the food lives up to its promise. – Tom Gaskin, Birmingham News
- Our entrées are Zea Rotisserie Chicken and Grilled Redfish with Shrimp Etouffee. Half of a chicken is roasted on an open flame and served with dipping sauces of barbecue, roasted garlic herb and sweet and spicy chili glaze. But this beautiful bird is so moist and flavorful that the sauces are unneccesary [sic]. The mild heat of the hickory-grilled redfish is complemented by the tasty blonde roux shrimp etouffee. – Jan Walsh, Birmingham Magazine
- Great food and service, not much else to say. Thai ribs, Rotisserie chicken and corn grits were superb!!! – Marc, Urbanspoon

About Zea Rotisserie & Grill
Founded in Harahan, Louisiana, by a trio of restaurateur pals in 1997, Zea Rotisserie & Grill champions the tastes of the American South across its 11 locations. Barbecued ribs and étouffée join the restaurant's signature rotisserie entrees, which slow-roast chicken, rib eye, and a rotating selection of pork, veal, and beef slathered with herb glacés or au jus. A specialty menu takes Zea's roots-centric recipes even further, revisiting classic New Orleans meals of pasta jambalaya, fried catfish with remoulade, and battered Mardi Gras beads. Zea Rotisserie & Grill also caters special events.
