Back when the snickerdoodle and the Thin Mint were nothing more than dance crazes, sock-hopping teens secretly wished for tiny candied frisbees to complement their moves. Wishes do come true with today's Groupon to Zelda's Sweet Shoppe in Skokie. Choose between the following options:
• For $7, you get $15 worth of in-store or online purchases.
• For $25, you get $50 toward catering and special orders, including custom cakes, bakery trays, and personalized trays.
Zelda's sucrose stylists craft their bounty of sweet treats from scratch on-site, offering a flotilla of fine cookies, chocolates, and baked goods, as well as specialty kosher and nondairy desserts. Load up on individual cookies ($3–$5), including bottle-shaped cookies for babies, onesie-shaped treats for professional wrestlers, or sumptuous kosher pareve apple strudel ($9.99). All of Zelda's truffles are crafted from fine belgian chocolate, fruits and nuts from around the world, and the Skokie sweet shop also offers a plethora of pareve and lactose-free baked goods and cakes, as well as pareve chocolates certified kosher by the Chicago Rabbinical Council.
Zelda's offers a caravan of catering services including plates of crudités ($49.99 for 12" tray), orzo salad ($39.99 for a serving for 8–10), veggie lasagna ($49.99 for half pan), quiche ($18.99+), and plentiful platters of bagels, cream cheese, and lox. Catered goods may be dropped off, but staff is also available for full-service catering and dead-on Swedish Chef impressions. Specialty bakery orders such as wedding cakes, birthday cakes (three-layer cakes for $23.99+), and party trays (70-piece assorted sweets tray for $54.99) liven up conversations between kindred sweet teeth at any social gathering.
