Buying Groupons
Last updated: March 2026
We design every deal page to give you all the information you'll need before purchasing, in distinct sections so you know where to find it. Here's a tour of those different sections to help you make the most of your Groupon shopping experience.
Highlights
A one-sentence description of the product or service offered in the deal.
About the Deal
Under the heading "About This Deal" or "Product Details" (and sometimes beneath the customer reviews), you'll find a thorough breakdown of what you'll get when you buy the deal. Often, information about the merchant—from location to mission to what's behind their products and services—can also be found here.
The Need to Know
This is the most important section to read before you purchase a deal, as it lays out the terms and conditions associated with that deal—such as the number of Groupons you can purchase when the Groupon will expire, and whether you need to book an appointment or complete your purchase on the merchant's website.
What the Need to Know Includes
Every deal has some restrictions you'll want to know about, whether that's how many Groupons you can buy, how long your Groupon will be good for, or whether your deal can be purchased with a promo code. In addition to these, the Need to Know will also cover different types of information depending on the type of deal:
Local Deals: Whether the deal is open to new clients, if it's only valid at certain locations or on certain dates, how often you can repurchase the deal, other details about the merchant or the service provided
Groupon Goods Marketplace Deals: Shipping fees and return policies, whether you'll need to complete your purchase on the merchant's website, and a link to any warranty information
GrouponLive Deals: Refund policy and information about ticket redemption and seating (such as how to sit with friends)
Groupon Getaways Deals: Purchase or travel restrictions, any non-refundable/additional fees, booking and expiration dates, check-in times, cancellation policies, terms for room occupancy
To learn more about a Groupon, the best place to start is the deal page. We work closely with merchants to try to provide all the information you need to know about the deal.
Deal Page Info
General information about the merchant and what's included in the deal
Customer reviews
A map of participating locations with addresses and phone numbers
Terms and conditions that may apply
If you can't find what you're looking for, or you still have questions, it's best to check with the business directly. You can find the merchant's website or contact information at the bottom of the deal page.
Tip: After you buy a Groupon, check your voucher for specific instructions.
All Groupon deals are available for a limited time. Some deals have a clock above the Buy button counting down until the deal closes:
If a deal says "Limited time remaining," this means the deal can sell out at any moment.
If the Buy button says "Not Yet Available" or "Sold Out," this means the deal is not available for purchase.
Repurchasing a Deal
You can repurchase a deal by going to My Stuff and selecting Buy It Again.
If the deal is still available, check the Fine Print to determine whether any restrictions will prevent you from repurchasing—for example, "Limit 1 per person" or "New clients only."
Some deals close and re-open at a later time, depending on the merchant. So if a deal you love is no longer available, keep checking back.
The Map
Want to know exactly where the business is or how to get there? At the bottom of the deal page is an interactive map that will show you all the locations of the business for which the deal is valid. You can use this to plan your trip or shop for deals in the same neighborhood.
We want to make sure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision about purchasing and using your Groupon. That's why we include the "Fine Print" section of the deal page, which covers the deal's terms and conditions and other details. You should always read the Fine Print before purchasing a deal so that you know it's right for you.
To find the "Need to Know" section, just scroll down the deal page (past sections like "About This Deal," "Product Details," and "Customer Reviews," depending on the deal type).
