It was okay -- it fit our needs. On the positive side ....... The place is better than Motel 6 in Pismo but not up to a Holiday Inn Express level. The beds were comfortable enough. The room was reasonably clean. The Air Conditioning was great. The room had a decent flatscreen TV, a microwave, and a mini-fridge. The coffeemaker was a real mini-sized coffeemaker. The location was awesome for us because the A-Town Diner was only a half mile away. The shower was fine. It was quiet, not counting one night when some moose walked around on the second floor above us. Being right on the 41 we took our trip out to Morro Bay that we needed to (for a funeral). Being right on the 101 it was easy to get up to Paso Robles and wineries. And the key factor for choosing this location was that it was Dog Friendly. That said, "Dog Friendly" requires you to pay an extra $20 per night and sign off on a bunch of extra rules about damage and not leaving the dog in the room alone, and that's not on the website. ....... On the negative side ........ The water was kinda cloudy. The toilet and the sink drained slowly. Three doors down from us were some of the friendliest meth addicts. (To each their own. It wasn't a problem.) There was an outside trash can - the 32-gallon R2D2 shape can. The trash can was full the first two days of our three day stay - an obvious thing to remedy that they didn't. There is no pool. The guy behind the counter was friendly. ....... Would we go back? We probably wouldn't because the Adelaide Inn in Paso Robles is much better (but it doesn't take dogs), and the Worldmark Pismo is awesome, if you can get into it (but again, no dogs). But for this one trip, we thought it was okay. A light three stars, but I wouldn't trash this place like some of the other reviews.

Filthy When arriving at the hotel room it didn’t seem very clean. We’ve stayed at many hotels across the US on our many road trips and know if it doesn’t appear clean, then always check the bedding. The sheets and pillows here were filthy. We cancelled and booked another hotel. It was gross.

Decent, but Way Overpriced for What You Get Decent and clean but very basic. The staff was very friendly. Rooms reasonably modern. Large screen TV and mini-refrigerator. Conveniently-close to old downtown Atascadero. But not worth $250/night in 2022.

Basic but it is clean and nice! We have stayed several times and will be back. We've stayed here maybe 8 or 9 times since around 2016 and it's always been good for us. After this last visit (our first time back since the pandemic!) I thought I should finally submit a review (sorry, I just don't review things very much!) because the folks who own/work at The Atascadero Inn have always been super nice and the place is always very clean, and I want to balance out any haters who have complained about various things that we have never experienced here. it's not a fancy place, but it has decent updated amenities (flat screen, fridge/microwave). The bedding is fine for this price range and pillows are comfortable. When we're on vacation we don't get up early enough to know about whether there is breakfast at a motel. Just having the coffee maker is good for us until we're ready to go out to eat. Plus there's a Von's grocery down the road where you can stock up on food anyway. Because it's on the main road, of course there is some traffic noise, but you can't avoid that. The guy who often is working the early evenings is super nice, friendly, and will always accommodate our late check-out request for a small fee. That is totally worth it to us! The best thing is that after we get the late checkout set up, there is never any early knocking on our door or housekeeping calling us. We are left alone which is exactly what we wanted! Really appreciate that. Also, one night when we came back pretty late there was a woman working in the office and she very kindly found us some more coffee supplies for the room - also really appreciate that. The motel is close to everything in Atascadero plus it's just a 20 min drive to Morro Bay or SLO. Also close to Pismo, Arroyo Grande, Paso - there's. a ton of great towns that you can visit in one or two days. We will keep coming back! Thanks guys!
