"Damage charge" unjustly levied. Beware. The breakfast was awful. The coffee was bitter. And the worst thing is they charged us $50 for "damage" after our departure. When I called to inquire, they responded in (email) writing that they would refund $36 but they did not do so. They then refused to respond to my follow up emails as to why they reneged on their promise to refund $36. Beware of this hotels dishonesty.

Very disappointed!!!! First problem, when I arrived I wanted to change my payment method and the manager informed me that they had already precharged my card due to being sold out! She said she couldn't switch the payment method without it taking a great deal of effort! I have never had any hotel I stayed at, or worked at, precharge a credit card unless it was a prepaid room. But never, even if it was sold out, have i been charged before ive even checked in! Usually I am asked if the credit card on file is correct and then charged at checkout! I talked to the Night auditor and he said it was a recent change, within the last week, from the new manager and that he had never had any manager do this in the 7 years he has worked there. Definitely not a fan of this "policy" change. Second, I asked if I could get a little milk for my youngest child since I hadn't been able to get some before we got to the hotel. I was told that it was not possible for them to get me any, which I guess isn't a huge deal, just agitating since every other hotel I've been to has been able and willing. Last, the bedroom smelt like stinky feet and the beds were awful! If you like sleeping on plywood these beds are for you! Otherwise go spend $20 more at best Western for a better bed. Staff overall was friendly, just won't be staying here or at any other Quality inn in the future.

Generally a good place to stay Very nice reception and the hotel and room was very clean and comfortable. Hot breakfast was good. Used the hot tub to relax after driving all day. Only issue was the AC unit was very loud so we couldn’t use it once we went to bed.

Hayward, CA 021 6/15/2022 This motel deserves minus stars based on an encounter I had with the desk manager on duty. I had a reservation and checked in this evening at 5:00. I noticed at the desk that there was a large sign stating that no smoking is permitted and there is a $500 fine if smoking is detected in the room. I went upstairs to room 215 and was greeted with a stale smoke and nicotine odor when I opened the door. I immediately went back to the office and asked the guy if I could get another room. He said they're sold out, so I explained the situation about the potential fine, but that I could stay in the room if he gave me something in writing acknowledging the smoke. This is when things became heated. He gave me an incredulous response and said, no he's not giving me any note. Then he said I have two choices: I can either leave or keep the room I have. After I was taken aback by his rudeness and confronted his demeanor, he said "Leave, I'm done with you." I asked him about a receipt for a refund, and he said he couldn't give me that because it's in his system, so I asked him to run the refund on the spot. We'll see if it's credited to my account. I told him I needed the access card to retrieve my luggage out of the room, and as I was leaving the lobby, I heard him laughing uproariously. When I came back with the card and put it on the counter, I heard him say thank you when I turned to leave, then he engaged again in demonic laughter. I ended up finding another room in Redmond a few miles north. My unpleasant experience reflects poorly on Choice Hotels, whom I've patronized for many years without any issues. I'm 73 years old and have never been treated so poorly by any employee in all these decades. If this man is so inconvenienced by having to treat guests like human beings, he should find another job outside the hospitality industry and let someone else take his place who is courteous and really needs the job. Since the room reeked of stale tobacco, wouldn't the housekeeper have noticed it after the last guest left before me and reported it to the front office? If so, shouldn't the office have deodorized the room and not rent it until this had been done? Had I stayed, it would have been my luck that I would be reported and be facing a $500 fine.
