Front Desk Staff Need More Training Arrived 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26th to an empty front desk. When employee came from back, she didn't say hello or anything welcoming. Usually the clerk says something about me being a Platinum Elite member. I asked if I could have an upgrade if available, but she didn't even acknowledge I had spoken. I just handed her my credit card as I knew she'd need at some point in check-in. She gave me room keys to Room 217 and told me when breakfast was M-F and Sa-Su. I said I was only here this one night. I began writing time of breakfast on my room key paper holder& she repeated the M-F times again. I repeated I am only here this one night. She told me I was here for 4 nights. She looked in computer again and then went to the room behind check out. When she returned, she asked for room keys back and scratched out 217 & wrote 312 on the paper holder. The 3rd floor hallway leading to our room smelled of cigarettes. Our room scent was sweet. I discovered there was a scented oil plugin by the couch. We tried to use the microwave to make popcorn, but microwave shut off during use. We called front desk. Maintenance came & said it wasn't the circuit breaker in our room, but outside of our room. We tried the microwave again, but the same thing happened & we called front desk again. Maintenance fixed it the same was as last time. He said if it happened a 3rd time, he'd get us a new microwave or we could ask to change rooms. We just decided to not use the microwave. The front desk called us to tell us we were overcharged & that a credit would take 2-3 days. The next day we used the pool. The scent of propane/gas was noted around the grill. The scent of cigarettes was quite heavy in the pool area too eventhough I didn't see anyone smoking. At check out I wanted to verify room charges since I'd received the phone call the day before. Sumayah said I didn't have any charges except for taxes. I stated I'd never paid taxes before when using points to pay. Someone heard the conversation & came out of back room & looked at computer. She said I didn't owe anything.

No housekeeping here! Always stay at Marriott. First time I’m writing a bad review. I understand about covid and all the precautions we had to take, but we are in a different place now than last year. Stayed here for four days they provide no housekeeping at all. For clean towels you have to go downstairs and show them which towels you are returning in order to get the same amount back. Soap, shampoo, toilet paper etc you have to pick up at front desk! Hallway on my floor was dirty and was not vacuumed for three days. This location is definitely taking advantage of the covid 19 restrictions which in Texas has been lifted ! Sorry to say I would not recommend this hotel at all. You have lots of choices nearby I would choose another hotel. I expect better from Marriott.

3rd Visit - 2020 is doing this hotel no favors When we asked about the changes due to COVID 19, we were told high level information, specifically stating that there were very few changes. The biggest change, we were told, was that the breakfast area had some adjustments. These changes sounded and did appear reasonable. We were not told: 1) the iron, ironing board, hair dryer, all cookware utensils and most things you actually get a "Residence Inn" room for, were removed. Yes, the silverware, plates, and glasses were there. But that was it. If you needed to cook something, you would have to go buy utensils for cooking. No wine bottle openers, no can openers, no stirring spoons, nothing. When I asked at the front desk, COVID-19 was blamed. In other words, we were out of luck. 2) House cleaning had not only reduced to 1 day per week, but no adjustments were made to facilitate the family needs within that week. In other words, if you needed towels, you had to trudge your wet soppy rags and towels all the way downstairs, and spend the time "checking them in" one at a time, while someone went to get you the replacements that you had to haul back up. 3) Trash has clearly not been thought out. When you accumulate trash, you are to take your trash to a large yellow bin and dump it off there. This is done at each floor's elevators. This becomes a fly nuisance by the elevators and the smell permeates down the hall as this isn't changed but (maybe) once a day, and not always at that. That's fun. 4) Speaking of trash, after you have dropped of your trash having hauled it all the way down the long hallway, you then have to go downstairs and ask for more trash bags, as the replacements are not there where you dropped off your trash. 5) Speaking of other consumables, if you need more than one roll of toilet paper, or paper towels for the week, you have to go all the way downstairs and check those out too. You only get one set of mini-toiletries in a plastic baggy upon check in. By now, you're getting sick of this and starting to buy these items at the local Walgreens. Who wants to ask for TP or PT, hand soap, bar soap, publicly, every other day or so? 6) Also, apparently in addition to the loss of cleaning, is the loss of bug spraying. I awoke to my young son to being covered in sugar ants. Covered. We were on the 3rd floor. There is no excuse for this. 7) Speaking of ants, sugar ants are not the only problem. The grounds are currently swarming with fire ants. Swarming. Seriously. These aren't hard to keep down and there are annual treatments that do a fantastic job of keeping fire ants at bay in the Houston climate. I'm happy to forward you the names of several local pest control entities that have been able to eradicate these, annually, for us for the last 14 years while living in Houston. 8) The grounds are currently host to individuals plying different trades as soon as the sun goes down. As we've stayed here 2 other times in the last year (with young children, which the records will show), this is something new. This is no longer a safe environment for the evening for us. These activities happen at all hours, at 2am when we walked a dog, and again at 5:30 am as we were checking out. I challenge anyone in Marriott Management to be comfortable sending various members of their family, alone, downstairs to this environment for any reason after dark. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel again. Obviously, I didn't feel that way prior to our last stay, as this was our 3rd stay at this hotel. I hope management takes these specific issues seriously.

Warning! I reserved this hotel based on the advertised price of $122 per room. Much to my surprise, the final bill was $120 over that rate. The service connected with the hotel’s website, reservations.com, added “Taxes and Fees” that increased the actual room rate by 50%, making it $160 per night. I called immediately to complain, but they would not reduce the “Fees” or offer a refund. DO NOT USE THE RESERVATIONS.COM SERVICE! Very disappointed that Marriott would use such deception.
