Could be so much nicer.... Booked here for a concert in Hyde Park. Very near the Gloucester Rd tube station and a Waitrose plus lots of restaurants nearby. The hotel from the outside looks very grand however it's in desperate need of a refurbishment inside. There's a musty smell from the shabby carpets. The suite we stayed in was large and had everything we needed however the air con didn't seem to be working. Again needed a refurbishment. However it served it'd purpose

Not a pleasant experience This is certainly not a 4-star hotel. The entire building reeks of mold (the smell is unbearable on the ground floor and the basement), which is in fact a health hazard. All carpets, curtains, and furniture need urgent cleaning. Our mold-ridden, claustrophobic room was in the basement, and following our complaint we were moved to an upper floor room which at least had windows. The only good aspect of this hotel was the breakfast (purchased separately for £12). Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Great stay - no complaints. I'm writing this after checking in and having a nap, now sat in the bar with a glass of wine. I booked this hotel blind based on price (very very reasonable for London!) and hadn't looked at the reviews. Then, before check in, perused tripadvisor to see what the general feel was and I'll admit, I got nervous. While I totally admit I don't think it's a luxury hotel by a long shot and yes, it smells a bit damp in areas, it's on a main road and the bar staff are far from enthusiastic, I do not understand the hate for this place. The room, while basic, was very clean and absolutely acceptable. The location is so convenient with the tube station spitting distance away getting you central super speedily. The double bed - comfy but compact, the bathroom - snug but absolutely serviceable. London is expensive. This is affordable by comparison and you get bang for your buck. Is it a luxurious experience? No. But the wifi is free and speedy. The place is CLEARLY cared for even if it is a bit dated. If the price suits your budget don't be put off by the scathing reviews. I've paid more for less and will absolutely stay here again.

The good, and the not-so-good. First, the good: very comfortable beds and pillows, huge bathroom, and friendly, prompt and helpful staff. Now, the not-so-good: the hotel is in bad need of an upgrade. The carpets are old and stained, and as soon as you leave the lobby to walk back towards the elevators, the musty smell is quite noticeable. We were assigned room 6 in the basement level, and although there was a "view," it's nothing you'd want to see - basically the bottom of an interior skylight that was filled with dead plants, broken plaster and other rubbish. It was very unsightly. They should clean this up or at least provide those assigned to this room a discounted rate. We kept the curtains closed the entire time.

Just ok The hotel staff was friendly and the junior suite was very spacious. The rooms are in need of an update. The reason for the 3 stars is the smell of the hallway near the elevators and the rooms smells really bad. It has a very moldy smell. Thankfully the room did not have the smell. The location was close to Glouster Tube station and the neighborhood was quiet.
