Worst Hampton Inn I have been to. Rude and disrespectful staff (except for Amber), old and beat up rooms, the pool was filthy (and the staff refused to provide towels) and the breakfast was horrible. Stay in crown point instead! As a Hilton Honors member I cannot believe this hotel operates this way.

Friendly staff despite issues The best thing about this hotel was the amazing customer service. Everyone i met during our stay was friendly. The room wasn’t super outdated, clean and no bugs. Pillows were very flat, we could put our head on it and just sink down. Breakfast was nice and they had a good selection. My only complaint, and why I rated 3 stars, is that rooms were not ready when we arrived at 6pm because of a laundry issue , and the elevator was broke our entire stay. We were there multiple days, for a trip to Chicago. The location was next to the highway and very convenient- I just hope the owners can invest some money into the place to help with some issues.

Not your typical Hampton Inn & Suites We typically always stay at Hampton Inn and Suites because we know what we are getting. This hotel was far from what we expected. It is in need of serious remodeling and updating. It’s outdated and run down. The fitness center smelled and had the door propped open with a dusty fan.

Looks nice from the outside, but... While the outside appearance of this hotel looks nice, the inside is very dated, with the exception of what appears to be newer hallway carpeting. As we walked through the double doors, our first impression was a heavy chlorine smell from the adjacent pool. Additional concerns were as follows: a very small elevator not only for guests but also housekeeping staff, a room that was very small, old furniture, a dirty bathroom floor, loose caulk around the base of the toilet, loose wall molding from floor to ceiling, very small breakfast area, and poor breakfast presentation. The hotel's location did serve our needs and the staff was nice, but for the price we paid, we didn't get our money's worth.

Great service but disappointing breakfast We chose this hotel since it was within ~20 minutes of the Indiana Dunes National Park and we were spending the weekend. When we arrived, we saw they received a quality award from Hampton Inn. The hotel is starting to show its age, but they still have done a good job in maintaining it as it’s clean and the hallways were well lit. For our hotel room, it was fine but there was a lack of outlets for our various electronics. There also was no place for recycling and since we had a decent number of items, we just took it home. We went to the pool twice and while it’s a little on the small side, it was fine and had longer hours than a typical hotel (6 AM to 11 PM). The fitness room is standard for the most part, but they do have a Peloton machine which was unique if you have an account. The staff there was probably the best part of the hotel as all of them (front desk, breakfast staff, and housekeeping) were all friendly. Each time there was an issue, such as running out of coffee cups, they were happy to resolve the issue quickly. Also, I don’t think all Hampton’s do this, but this one offered chocolate chip cookies at night. While they are not big like Doubletree’s, they were still good and happy to get them! However, I must remove one star because of the breakfast. I’ve been to many Hampton’s and the breakfast here was definitely below what I’ve come to expect from them. They essentially crammed the eating area into the lobby and even though the hotel was nowhere near in being full, we still had a hard time finding a table for the three of us and it just felt cramped. I’m assuming when the hotel really gets busy, you would be forced to take the food back to your room since there wasn’t anywhere else to go. Also because of the space, the serving area itself was also small and it didn’t look like they had all the usual items, like a container of hot oatmeal. As a result, we didn’t even eat there the second day and went to the Bob Evan’s instead. Not sure what they can do to resolve it without doing a significant renovation.
