Apple iPod Shuffle 2GB 4th Generation
This no-fuss MP3 player packs high-quality music playback into a tiny package. Enjoy music piped through high-fidelity earphones as you go about your daily business, whether that’s heading to class with an energizing soundtrack or listening to self-affirmations before calling the cable company.
Enjoy Music Anywhere, Anytime
Crafted from a single piece of aluminum, the Shuffle is just over one inch square and weighs about as much as a single AAA battery. With a handy clip that can be attached to a backpack, purse, or pocket, it’s ideal for “setting and forgetting” when you’d rather not juggle multiple devices.
Click and Play
With only a handful of buttons and switches, controlling the Shuffle is as simple as it gets. The circular control pad features a large play/pause center button with volume and skip controls on the surrounding ring. Flip the top switch to one of three positions to shuffle, play in order, or turn the tiny device off.
Even though the device lacks a screen, it’s still easy to navigate through your files with the VoiceOver feature. Press the button at the top to activate it; in your choice of 29 languages, it will tell you the name of the song that’s playing or list off your playlists. It even whispers in your ear when the battery needs charging.

From the start, Steve Jobs was enthralled with not only the novelty of technology but also its design. When speaking about the Apple computer, he said it was “going to be insanely beautiful.” Over the years, Apple’s products have worked to fuse innovative technology with almost artful design. The iMac stunned the world with its colorful plastic shells, which the New York Times said “more closely resemble a pack of Life Savers than a new computer line.” The glossy white iPod—no bigger than a deck of playing cards—could hold an entire library of music. Time Magazine named the iPhone the Invention of the Year for its stunning design and, uniquely, because of the promise it held for even better products in the future. With each new item they launch, Apple works to shape the way future societies communicate, learn, and dance when they’re alone.
