I'm guessing its meant to be a decorative hatchet. I bought it with the intention to use it for camping (you know, to chop up small logs for firewood), but within the first two minutes of chopping away, the rope handle slipped off the end and was impossible to get back on correctly... not that it would have stayed on again anyway. So, if you like the look of it, and you don't actually want to chop anything, go for it. If you need functionality, buy one without a rope handle because once the rope is off, its nearly impossible to use. Two stars though because it is sharp and did what it was supposed to do, even if it was for only a few minutes.
