Melissa & Doug Catch & Count Fishing Game
As children grow, this colorful fishing game adapts to their skills and needs with countless ways to play, from simple catch-and-release fun to matching and counting activities.
The game begins as a test of coordination and motors skills as tots use the wind-up fishing rods to pick up the brightly colored fish with a magnetic lure. A spinner wheel tells kids which fish to catch next and also helps with number and color recognition, as well as hand-eye coordination. As their skills develop, children can play more challenging matching, sorting, and counting games that incorporate patterns, numbers, and secret alien hieroglyphs.
Great for Visual Learners
Designed in bright colors with numerous variations in pattern, number, and size, the fish in this set draw the attention of children who learn by sight. A colorful mesh storage bag can also be folded on the floor to symbolize a pool or pond, and the traditionally colored bobbers keep kids focused on the direction of their rod and reel.
Like all of Melissa & Doug’s toys, the pieces of this fishing set are made of simple and natural materials. The two rods are constructed out of wood, simple string reels, and magnetic inserts for catching the fish, which are also made of wood. The pieces are brightly painted in a rainbow of colors, and fit neatly inside an included mesh storage bag.
