The Equation of Life: A Film About Bullying Through the Eyes of a Child
Young Adam is tormented by a bully for 111 days on his way to school. He begins keeping a video journal, recording his daily sufferings and the fear and helplessness victims of bullying often feel. With no relief in sight, Adam takes matters into his own and finds that there are wide-ranging consequences that affect not only him, but his whole family.
Gerry Orz, the then-11-year-old writer and director who also portrayed Adam, was inspired to make the movie because of his own experience with bullies at school. He dreams of becoming a film director, producer, and writer and making “movies that will have a positive impact to today’s youth and will inspire them to follow my footsteps to a better tomorrow.”
Gerry has led a moment of silence to honor victims of bullying, harassment, and abuse. He also travels to schools and organizations, sharing his story and movies to help other kids, both bullies and their victims, find resolution. He believes that kids are better able to relate to real-life events as told by kids than to lectures and pamphlets handed out by their teachers.
