The Intro to Photography class is produced by Monte Zucker Photographic Education (MZPE), which provides quality professional photographic instruction. More than 30,000 enthusiastic students of all levels have attended their photographic tours on three continents over the past seven years to learn how to combine the power of technical expertise and artistic vision to create beautiful photos and films. In addition to offering the tours, MZPE produces instructional books and DVDs, as well as teaching in-depth photo-master classes around the world. The 2002 United Nations Photographer of the Year, celebrated photographer and mentor Monte Zucker once stated, "I don’t photograph the world as it is. I photograph the world as I would like it to be." Continuing on in his memory, current instructor Bob Ray teaches with an entertaining, passionate presentation that focuses on learning immediately in class. The experience provides an aspiring photographer a comprehensive set of tools to reach his or her artistic potential.

  • McKay Photography Academy
Bearing the titles of Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman from Professional Photographers of America, David and Ally McKay embody the keen vision and aesthetic prowess that separated good photographers from great ones. They share these skills during classes at McKay Photography Academy, where they train eyes, fingers, and imaginations to work in tandem as a snapshooting dream machine. Their classes help aspiring photographers progress from neophytes to seasoned pros. When not busy instructing the next generation of shutterbugs, David and Ally also devise photo safaris, which send small teams of photographers to capture shots of famed landmarks including San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge; the Lincoln Memorial of Washington, DC; or Yosemite's 60-foot statue of Yogi Bear.

  • Art Exposure
Art Exposure was established a decade ago to bring a splash of color to the Baltimore community through exhibits, education, events, and splashes of color. The collective also nurtures the burgeoning art community by helping young artists find a canvas through a series of different courses. Your Groupon is good for any five-week course (as opposed to five random classes) falling under the Art Classes for Adults category. The once-a-week classes are offered for artists of all levels and across various styles and mediums. The current course lineup includes introduction to digital photography, abstract painting, oil painting (beginner/intermediate/advanced), watercolor painting (beginner/intermediate), and connect-the-dot masterpieces. Friendly and skilled instructors lead each course and all are well versed in the art of art (and secretly versed in the art of break-dancing). Many classes begin in early March and April, with different lessons added all the time, so check the schedule for upcoming dates, times, and locations.

The Strawberry Roth IRA and the Chocolate Tax Break are just two of the cocktails served at Finances Demystified happy hours, hosted by personal finance coach Dominique Broadway. During the events, also called "money parties," participants sip drinks and mingle, all while discussing personal finance issues and getting answers from experts that include realtors and entrepreneurs. Dominique spent years at brokerage and personal finance firms, and her experience in money management goes back—way back. Even as a kid, she sold handmade bracelets to her friends and family, rather than just trading them for trendy pet rocks. Currently, Dominique strives to demystify the world of personal finance for the everyday person through her social finance events, which aim to break taboos around discussing money.

  • Sylvan Learning Ctr
The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous study facilities understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don’t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of standardized testing, diagnostic tools, and one-on-one interviews. Tutors work with students from kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having to scribble them on your hand. Many of Sylvan’s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results.
