Best No-Chip Mani-Pedi

A Spa for You | Westford

A Spa for You is truly committed to relaxation, and nowhere is that more obvious than their kid-free policy. Though kids are welcome to receive treatments—alongside mom and dad of course—to help promote a soothing atmosphere, they politely ask parents to leave the kiddos at home when they come in for a treatment. We most recommend the shellac mani-pedi. It goes on like a gel, but dries in no time and lasts much longer than traditional polish. That means your digits will be looking dapper for weeks instead of days. After your mani, check out some of the spa’s other services, which run the gamut from massages and seaweed wraps to reiki.

All About: No-Chip Manicures

How No-Chip Polish Is Applied

The no-chip application process isn’t that different from a regular manicure’s—except that after every coat of polish, the technician must  “set” his or her work by sticking the client’s hand under a UV lamp. This is more than just a great way to take your hands on a beach vacation (that UV lamp is toasty!). It means you can rummage through your bag, run your fingers through your hair, or pet your favorite pup without worrying about smudging and wrinkling the paint job or leaving a mark behind where you don’t want it. That’s the beauty of no-chip! When they say no-chip, they really mean it. So yes, it does take a little longer than your traditional manicure in some sense, but in another, it’s actually faster because there’s no lengthy drying time. When you’re done, you’re done.

What is a manicure?

A manicure includes buffing and shaping fingernails, and typically applying a fresh coat of nail polish. Aestheticians will push back and trim the cuticles while buffing down any ridges, leaving nails looking glossy and sleek even before the color is added. But that doesn't mean all manicures are created equal. A shellac manicure will last much longer than a standard one, and a paraffin wax manicure will leave you with softer, healthier skin.

Best Pedicure

Simplicity Salon | North Andover

Simplicity Salon's owner, Wendy Lee Damiano, really wants clients to have a relaxing getaway when they visit, so she tucks cozy quilts on the massage beds and stocks up on fresh coffee, tea, and desserts. That can make a trip to the salon feel more like a trip to your mom’s house. But Simplicity doesn’t prioritize just relaxation. Instead, it blends relaxation with effective, often high-tech spa treatments, such as LED-light and microcurrent facial treatments, PCA peels for rough, calloused feet, and keratin hair-straightening services. Their pedicures are no different. The spa pedicure really pampers tired feet with warm towels, sugar scrubs, and even a light massage all as part of the treatment.
