  • Gladiator Rock'n Run PASADENA
Presented in part by Dan Clark, also known as Nitro, of American Gladiator fame, the Gladiator Rock'n Run 6K pairs an obstacle-heavy running course with post-race entertainment, including beer, music, and food. Six kilometers’ worth of collective scampering awaits participants as muscle-testing obstacles impede progress to the finish line. Those prepared to race must dance through tires, army-crawl through mud, and clamber up rope ladders to avoid barrels thrown by giant apes. The roar of spectators rings throughout the course as bystanders cheer on runners to inspire strong finishes. Gladiator Rock'n Run proceeds go toward a good cause, helping to raise money for TACA (Talk About Curing Autism), an organization that provides education, support, and information to aid parents in helping their children diagnosed with autism.

  • Sasquatch Relay
Typically, when people have friends or family in town, they show off their city by cramming in as many attractions and sights as possible. The four brothers behind the Sasquatch Relay take that approach to its logical extreme, orchestrating 75- and 190-mile relay races that spotlight their native region of Puget Sound. The trek leads teams of 6 or 12 in a one- or two-day journey through the shadows of Mount Rainier and the Northwest's sea of evergreens. At a party at the finish line, runners celebrate and share their surprise over how much shorter Sasquatch looks in person.

  • Red Frog Events
In addition to the sense of perseverance and accomplishment that comes with finishing a 5K, the organizers of the Bacon Chase have added another incentive: bacon. During their two races?the 5K Piggy Pilgrimage, which is a traditional 5K, and the 0.05K Blitz to Bacon, which is a 164-foot sprint?runners can munch on unlimited bacon bits before feasting on unlimited amounts of bacon at the finish line. Runners 21 and older can wash down the savory strips of bacon with a bloody mary, and all runners get a Bacon Chase T-shirt and a signature bacon-scented bib. The festival opens at 8 a.m. and features many bacon-themed activities, plus music. The festive day serves a greater purpose, too. Attendees will be able to register to become a St. Jude Hero, raise money for St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, or both.

  • Heroes for Autism 5K/10K
Autism affects more than three million people in the United States, and tens of millions of people across the globe. In fact, the CDC identifies one in 68 American children as being on the Autism spectrum. The disease appears during early childhood and lasts a lifetime, hindering the communication and social skills of those affected. This Labor Day weekend, the Autism Society of Washington?the state's oldest Autism society?will host its first annual 5K in an effort to make the state safer for individuals with Autism. The society's mission is to not only improve the lives of those affected by the disease, but also to provide lifelong access to treatment and services for the individuals themselves as well as their families. Located just a few minutes from the University of Washington, Magnuson Park will play host to the event. With 350 acres, it's Seattle's second largest park and sprawls across a picturesque stretch of Lake Washington's shoreline.

  • National Veterans Day Run
The National Veterans Day Run aims to serve as a nationwide demonstration of support for veterans and the men and women currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Currently, the event includes organized races spread across 15 cities in early November, all united under a common cause. Across the country, these events can include a one-mile walk, a 5K and 11K race, and a half marathon, depending on the city. Proceeds will be used to allow veterans and active-duty military personnel to participate in these races at reduced rates. For its 2014 event, the National Veterans Day Run has partnered with Operation Gratitude: a charitable organization that annually distributes more than 100,000 care packages to veterans, first responders, wounded warriors, caregivers, and active military personnel deployed overseas. Event coordinators encourage participants to support the efforts of this organization by pledging a donation during the registration process.
