Overlooking the Pamlico Sound, Hatteras Watersports Salvo gives Outer Banks visitors an opportunity to explore the area from a new perspective. A fleet of eight Yamaha Waverunner jet skis sits at the ready, beckoning guests who want to feel the thrill of a 110-horsepower engine propelling them across the water. Alternately, a Hobie Wave catamaran eschews engines in favor of wind power, allowing as many as four adults or one homesick walrus to effortlessly sail out toward the horizon. For a completely different experience altogether, Hatteras Watersports Salvo also rents kayaks to individuals looking to explore nearby marshes and wetlands while keeping their eyes peeled for the area's abundant wildlife. Those looking to walk the waves can rent a standup paddleboard and cruise the shorelines while basking in sunshine. Hatteras Watersports Salvo's sprawling lawn keeps groups occupied before or after aquatic outings with a picnic area, a volleyball court, and even hot showers for rinsing off at the end of the day.
Wind, water, and wide-open spaces—not only do they challenge players at The Golf Club at Eagle Creek, they also make the course a gratifying getaway from the hustle of the workweek. Sprawled out over 6,700 yards in the Eagle Creek community of Moyock, the course carries a links-style feel without the punishing penalties and lost balls. Lazy bermuda fairways and fast bent-grass greens guide players from the tee, tempting them with the allure of reachable birdies. But before they swing their first club, golfers can warm up at a full-length driving range and practice putting green, or visit the pro shop to have wayward balls fitted for contact lenses.
Course at a Glance:
Total length of 6,700 yards from the back tees
Course rating of 72.8 from the back tees
Course slope of 135 from the back tees
Four sets of tees per hole
Extreme Laser Tag sets the stage for space-age combat with its labyrinth of smoky corridors, ramps, and neon-lit walls. Equipped with Nexus Generation laser-tag technology, the arena can host up to 60 vested combatants as they split into teams and vie for points by scoring chest shots on their opponents.
Large plasma monitors outside the arena display the hectic battles in real time, with beam-by-beam battle stats showing who is the scoring leader and who has been melted into plasmic goo. The facility frequently accommodates birthday parties, large corporate gatherings, and fundraiser groups; everyday customers and private partiers often join in battlefield alliances, exacting laser-powered revenge on bosses and double-crossing imaginary friends.

Smoke fills the space ship, signaling the beginning of an epic battle. Suddenly, laser beams cut through the fog as teams of sharpshooters race down ramps, duck beneath colorful crossfire, and take aim at their own friends. This is the type of scene set by the multilevel arena at Gearworks Laser Tag & Fun Center, where up to 60 players at once can participate in thrilling laser-tag matches. Nexus Generation system vests send realtime stats to plasma screens scattered outside the arena, so spectators can keep track of top performers. Between laser tag bouts, visitors can keep the competition alive with air hockey or escape to the arcade to play racing games. The nearby inflatable room contains two bounce houses where little ones can get some hang time.
