In 1999, Ira Barsky and Ed Sarbey formed a coalition of animal-welfare supporters to combat the euthanizing of adoptable pets in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. They founded Animal Rescue Coalition (ARC) and purchased a mobile spay or neuter clinic to help reduce pet overpopulation. Since 2002, the organization has sterilized more than 32,000 cats and dogs, primarily offering its services to low-income families that could not otherwise afford the procedure. Additionally, ARC's emergency medical fund supplements this no-kill approach by paying for the medical supplies and medicines needed by sick or injured animals picked up by Sarasota County Animal Services. Drs. Nan Rosenberry and David Smith then provide complementary treatment for any animals brought into Bay Road Animal Hospital. ARC also sponsors a feral cat program and an adoption effort to ensure cats and dogs enter permanent and loving homes.

Licensed Zumba instructor Beth Golden—who also holds certifications from the AFAA, Red Cross, and PADI—leads easy-to-follow dance routines inspired by Latin salsa, merengue, and tango moves. A soundtrack of high-energy tunes and rolling r’s keep students motivated as she helps them shimmy off pounds with or without the help of muscle-toning sticks. She regularly changes up her dance routines to prevent boredom and keep feet guessing. In addition to group classes in the studio, Beth hosts private Zumba parties, taking her portable speakers and headset to beaches, parks, offices, or clients' homes to liven up special events.
A towering wine rack spans an entire wall and glimmers with more than 1,000 bottles. Across the room, a lineup of nitrogen-regulated Enomatic machines dispenses samples from 80 wines to be sipped, swirled, and theatrically spit while reclining on a leather sofa, or while sitting at the long wooden bar. Small, shareable plates populate Sarasota Vineyard's menu in the forms of cheeses, roasted olives, and prosciutto-wrapped figs, ideal for pairing with wines or barley pops from a list of 20 beers.
