  • Flag Raiders
Flag Raiders ensures fierce competition with multiple outdoor fields that are marked by a variety of obstacles, terrains, scenarios, and setups. Paintballers and their friends can traipse through an urban cityscape, firing colourful orbs past buildings or over six full-size cars while dodging stern jaywalking cops. On the turfed speedball pitch, prowlers quickly take cover behind inflatable obstacles and advance before getting splat tagged.

Since 1902, The Kitchener Lawn Bowling Club has united the thrill of competition with the leisure of a sunny backyard thanks to lawn bowling—a sport whose roots extend deep into the 12th century in cultures across the globe. Today, the club hosts social matches and lessons on its immaculate greens surrounded by shaded benches, flowerbeds, and picnic tables. Membership grants free lessons as well as access to the clubhouse stocked with trophies, photographs, and memorabilia from throughout its history. At night, floodlights illuminate the field, providing a full view of evening games and preventing confused players from trying to hit the moon with every toss.

  • Preston Figure Skating Club
The Preston Figure Skating Club trains skaters in everything from basic techniques to complex jumps and spins. Students start out in the preschool program, where they learn how to glide over the ice. They then move up through lessons until they develop the skills they need to compete. Hockey lessons build on basic skating techniques by teaching students how to move quickly over the ice in pads.

  • Kitchener/Waterloo
Recipient of an OHL Championship with the 2008 Kitchener Rangers, Matt Smith harnesses his extensive playing and elite-level coaching experience to imbue young goalies with fundamental and advanced defensive techniques. One-on-one and two-to-one training sessions review goalie-specific skating skills and blocking strategies on a synthetic ice surface with limited resistance to enhance speed and performance. On-ice staff consistently encourages pupils during each drill with positive reinforcement, constructive criticism, and obscure nicknames. The off-ice staff improves apprentices' abilities outside of the rink with workout routines that enrich balance, fortify cores, and improve flexibility so players can stealthily sneak through penalty-box trapdoors.

  • Kitchener Golf Academy/Ryall Golf
Trying to refine your golf game at the driving range alone is often difficult, especially for those who can't resist the urge to blast through an entire bucket of balls with nothing but their driver. At Kitchener Golf Academy/Ryall Golf's Doon Valley location, golfers encounter a variety of training venues to address all elements of the game. The facility encompasses an 18-hole, championship-length course and a full-length 9-hole course, where golfers can test their mettle against a variety of holes sculpted through wetlands and along the banks of the Grand River. Doon Valley also features a 9-hole, pitch-and-putt course, where a series of short holes helps players zero in on the most critical aspect of golf—the short game—and ignore the sweet siren song crooned by their driver. However, when it is time to test their power off the tee, Doon Valley offers a full-size driving range—the main feature of a practice facility that also includes a putting green and a practice bunker. The grounds at Kitchener Golf also host the 18-hole Rockway course. Built in 1935, the par-70 course measures 5,520 yards from the farthest tees and challenges golfers with trees that line the fairways like spectators at a golf cart drag racing event. Kitchener Golf Academy/Ryall Golf's staff of PGA of Canada pros make use of all of Doon Valley's facilities in lessons and clinics offered to golfers of all ages and abilities.

  • Canoeing The Grand
From Elora to Cambridge, the Grand River rolls smoothly over a shallow bottom, averaging a mere three feet deep. That leaves just enough room for the hull of a canoe or kayak to glide smoothly down the waterway, especially when moving with the current. The guides of Canoeing the Grand?and its sister business, Tubing the Grand?are there to help visitors get their fill of all the fun this natural lazy river has to offer every day from April to November. Before sending participants on their way, staff instructors provide guidance on how to operate the rental canoes and kayaks before bringing everyone to various put-in points. Once in the water, trips can last as little as 1.5 hours or as many as 11, allowing participants to power through a full journey or stop for a leisurely picnic. The moving flatwater also makes an ideal surface for a relaxing tubing trip. Families can plop into inflatable rings at the put-in points and simply go with the flow, never having to worry about paddling or even sitting up straight, since slouching is the first rule of relaxation.
