What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We're of few who offer reading and communicating in the only language spoken by every human, all over the world!
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
We recommend student bring paper and preferred writing instrument. All other hand-outs and materials will be provided.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
55% of communication is conducted through nonverbal elements, yet it's rare that anyone takes the time to become adept at understanding body language signals. Instead of just teaching in graded classes, I wanted to bring this opportunity to understand beyond what a person says to the general public.
What do you love most about your job?
Watching students come alive to their surroundings as they practice "reading" the constant information feed of those around them. It's just as exciting for me to watch as it is for them to experience. Seeing them become more confident, communicate more effectively, & listening to their stories.

Parents and Tots Classes are available for children between 1–3 years old, and Kids Only classes are available for children 3–5, 5–8 and 8–10 years old. Q&A with the Admin With Instructor
Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
We keep our students motivated by providing a challenging curriculum in a supportive environment. Most students come to our school already with an interest in the culture of Chinese martial arts. It is exciting to learn about a rich tradition first hand from teachers who have trained most of their lives professionally in China.
What's the most radical physical transformation you've seen a client make?
We focus on helping students make a healthy physical transformation. We've seen our students improve their balance, their reflexes, and their posture as well as gain more self-confidence and find new friendships at the school.
What is a typical session of your program or class like for a student?
A typical group class begins with warm ups, stretching, and practicing the basic movements and forms for the style (Kung Fu, Tai Chi, or Sanshou) of the class the student is attending.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Chinese martial arts is not just about self-defense or how to make your body stronger, it's about promoting peace, keeping your body healthy, and caring about others. Kung Fu can help you discover yourself.
On a trip to Chicago from his native Italy, young Mario Tricoci changed his life forever. The fledgling hairdresser stopped in at a prestigious salon, where he impressed the owner with his impeccable display of skill and landed himself a job. The next six decades brought strings of industry awards and the opening of his very own salon, which soon exploded into 26 locations in four states. With his styling prowess proven both to the industry and to the clients he encountered each day, the coiffeur decided to share his gift with others. In 2004, he established Tricoci University to foster a new generation of cosmetologists and spa technicians trained to thrive in the luxury-spa industry.
Throughout the Midwest, Tricoci protégés study a rigorous curriculum in high-end salon and spa surroundings to learn how to create beautiful hairdos, choose skin-flattering cosmetics, and beautify nails and skin. A team of experienced industry professionals readies pupils for the beauty world with in-depth classes, and outside education arrives via video demonstrations and guest-artist lectures on Vidal Sassoon's Wedge-Bob Postulate. More advanced students get a preview of their career to come by beautifying real people during instructor-supervised treatments, which lend the stylist essential experience as the client enjoys a pampering session at a discounted rate.
Four Things to Know About the Alliance Française de Chicago
The Alliance Française de Chicago was founded in 1897 to foster an understanding of French language and culture among the people of Chicago. It’s a worthy effort, especially since the first European settlers of the land that would become Chicago were French. Read on to learn more about the Alliance:
There’s a lot of wine. In addition to French language classes, the Alliance hosts lots of one-off cultural events where wine flows freely, including French film screenings and sommelier-led wine tastings. If you’re considering enrolling in a class, check out the free open house, where you can take trial classes and enjoy complimentary wine and cheese.
You’ll become a master of pronunciation. Many of the teachers at the Alliance Française (ah-lee-AHNZ-frahn-SEZ) are native speakers of French, and the rest have been studying the language long enough that you might think they are.
You’re never too old (or young) for class. Students in the Alliance’s French classes range in age from 1 to 85. The Chez Kids Academy immerses kids aged 1–12 in French at a time when their brains are primed for language acquisition.
It’s part of a global tradition. The Alliance Française de Chicago is one of more than 1,100 Alliances Françaises in the world.
