  • The Challenge Mud Run
The mad scientists behind The Challenge Mud Run spend their days playing with mud and surfing the Web for the ideal throwing axe. All that hard work will pay off when they host an intense 5-mile race that challenges the mind and body. During the race, entrants crawl through a dark, semisubmerged and smoke-filled tunnel, swing on monkey bars over a quicksand pit, answer a series of brain teasers, and of course crawl through mud while pretending to be the primordial life form that preceded the crocodile.

  • MetaBody Miami
The inspiring trainers at each MetaBody location lead troops of workouteers in results-oriented workouts several times weekly. Sweat sessions utilize a variety of exercises and disciplines to produce full-body results in a supportive environment, ideal for beginners and hard-core core-hardeners alike. During any class, motivational instructors will use the instinctual distrust of routine to their advantage. Begin a day of litigating with a refreshing early-morning boot-camp session, or wind down by burning evidence and pounds with a late-evening yoga class. Muscles are kept guessing with new and challenging moves during each session, so participants never fall into a boring, ineffective routine, such as regular teeth brushing. In addition to the fitness classes, students receive a success guide to help prepare for imminent pound loss, a nutrition guide, and a $100 gift certificate for individual coaching. Because the pass sets a 5 or 10-class cap at any given location, roving fitness mavens can further shake up their workout regimens by vetting a series of classes or instructors that work best for them.

  • Hand in Hand for Haiti
Hand in Hand for Haiti was founded in response to the 2010 earthquake that rocked Haiti, claiming more than 230,000 lives. After determining that the best way to help people rebuild their lives is through education, the project focused on building a school in Saint-Marc. The school, Lycée Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable, will house and run classes for more than 700 students from pre-school through secondary school. Students at the school also receive two nutritious meals every day and learn at the highest academic levels, with bilingual English-French classes taught by foreign and local teachers.

  • My Charity Run
Your race. Your cause. That's the mantra behind My Charity Run, a 5K/10K that allows registrants to raise funds for whichever organization they choose. As long as the group is a registered nonprofit, runners can initiate a fundraising campaign for it upon signing up for the race. Though the hallmark of the event, fundraising is optional: runners without a specific charity in mind will have a portion of their registration fee donated to various local charities. To prep for the race, runners can follow 5K and 10K training programs on My Charity Run's Facebook and Twitter pages. The day of the run, participants are encouraged to wear clothing or uniforms that represent and promote their cause. The race will take place on the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk, and those who let the bucolic backdrop inspire them to cross the finish line will be rewarded with a completion medal, a souvenir T-shirt, and a goodie bag with swag from the sponsors. Awards will be handed out to the three fastest times and three highest fundraisers in each age group, as well as three overall spirit awards for those with great costumes, positive attitudes, and spirit animals with the quickest completion times.

  • X-Rated Run
The X Run?a 5K that mixes mud with adult humor?was born from a desire to combine a race with the sexy, playful aspects of an adult consumer convention. Its obstacles divert from mud-run standards with their tongue-in-cheek names and props. The Dominatrix Dungeon, for example, encloses participants in a muddy maze festooned with hanging bondage items. Everyone runs in whatever clothing they feel most comfortable wearing (nudity is prohibited), and though there's a clock that tells you your race time, the vibe is hardly competitive. The race organizers' foremost goal is to promote a sex- and body-positive outlook. To that end, the event welcomes runners of all fitness levels, and donates part of its proceeds to sexual health organizations. After the race, runners collect their completion medals and, if they're over 21, a free beer. They can also partake in more food and drink at the on-site after-party, which features a DJ, professional pole dancing demonstrations, mud wrestling, a male revue show, and meet-and-greet with Playboy Radio surprise guests.
