Having experienced professional fights firsthand, the instructors at The MMA University know what it takes to get a body ready for the ring: hard work and a focused approach. But they also know how to make their training philosophy fun and approachable for newcomers and young students. Kids’ classes
include Brazilian jiu jitsu, which welcomes martial arts first-timers with grappling-only sessions that channel superabundant youthful energy while helping shyer kids discover their athletic passion. The kids’ MMA program begins to safely introduce striking techniques through the fundamentals of wrestling, boxing, and kickboxing in addition to jiu jitsu.
The gym is lined with heavy bags, jump ropes, and body balls, but it’s the spacious floor mat that takes center stage in most classes, emphasizing the importance of engaging actual sparring partners. Men and women who aren’t necessarily training for the ring can jump into Combat Cardio, an intense and widely varied workout that incorporates all of the above equipment, along with resistance bands, kettle bells, and medicine balls.
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Our staff is led by a third-degree Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt instructor, a pro boxing coach and strength conditioning specialist with 15+ years experience. We have a proven curriculum that incorporates the foundational components of jiu-jitsu, healthy eating, and fitness exercises for all ages.
What's one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
Be yourself and always be open to learn new things. If you're able to do that then you'll be just fine.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Over several years of perfecting my skills successfully, including in competing, we decided to develop a program to help those who have aspirations to learn the techniques and skills.
What do you love most about your job?
Teaching our students and watching their successes.

Pick your weapon—saber, foil, or epee—and take your stance. National Fencing-NFA can teach you how to wield all three like a master with sport-fencing lessons and camps designed to build muscle memory, sharpen defensive instincts, and impart advanced techniques. Fencers from National Fencing-NFA who wield these skills in their sparring matches have gone on to compete in national championships and Fencing World Cups. For those who prefer to keep their fighting recreational, fencing can help hone reflexes, speed, and flexibility—all important qualities for the next time you meet a dragon in a dark alley.
