  • Naples Walking Tours
Tom Poe's roots in Naples run deep—60 years deep, to be specific. The Long Beach native and his family have long been embedded in the area's social, recreational, and political arenas, and he draws from his history and knowledge bank to highlight the community's charm and character during spirited walking tours. Tom's most popular tours take place during sunset; he guides his small groups through the Southern California community, augmenting stops at memorable vistas and architectural curiosities with entertaining narration. Tom caps his tours off at 10 people for the sake of intimacy and peacekeeping should a dozen donuts need to be divvied up.

  • The Gondola Getaway
Mike O'Toole and David Black had already started their own Gondola cruise business together before Mike's first visit to Venice brought him into contact with the real thing. Fascinated by the sleek lines and ability to move under the power of a single oar, he stayed to investigate, toiling in boatyards and working stints as a gondolier as he learned to design and maneuver the classic boats. When he returned to the US, he brought with him a determination to make his gondola business a truly authentic experience. Together, he and David devised a gondola that exuded the traditions of Venice but that was specifically suited to the waters of Naples Island. At The Gondola Getaway, Mike, David, and their team of gondoliers conduct one-hour tours with the unique watercraft, which range from authentic two-seaters imported from Venezia to boats that seat up to 14, crafted with the co-owners' unique designs. These are built from oak frames and mahogany plywood with a five-ounce fiberglass overlay, painted jet-black, and constructed to be a bit shorter than their European counterparts. Once on the water, tour guides explore Naples Island's ancient canals and waterways, and even serve European snacks such as cheese, salami, and bread.

  • Bay Boat Rentals
Patrons of Pelican Joe's Bay Boat Rentals don the captain?s hat and man the wood-paneled dash of 18-foot and 21-foot Duffy boats. Professional mariners show renters how to steer and remind them not to pick up hitchhiking penguins before vessels set sail on the waters of Alamitos Bay or waltz along the canals of Naples. Waterproof speakers blast music from iPods plugged into docking stations, and insulated coolers keep beverages cold as passengers fold back awnings to bask in the sun or relax in the shade of the 18-foot boat's canvas surrey top. Pelican Joe's Bay Boat Rentals outfits its floating lounges with complimentary ice and picnic linens and can also provide platters of gourmet snacks for guests to nibble while gathering the courage to toss diamond-heavy necklaces into the waves.

  • Psalty Adventures
Captain Gary Jackson originally cut his aquatic teeth as a PADI scuba-diving training coordinator and instructor. From there, it didn't take him long to found a charter company around his dive boat, the Psalty V, and today he leads harbor tours and dive trips from its deck. His vessel and crew also takes visitors on whale-watching trips as well as harbor cruises, where guests pass by one of the world's busiest harbors, where super-cargo ships, private yachts, and sea lions abound. His dive instruction teaches the basics of deep, nitrox, and wreck diving to ensure that his clients feel comfortable graduating from diving in the bathtub to the outdoor kiddie pool and beyond.
